Not sure how I like it...

So, my bridesmaids and I have finally picked the dresses that we love them in and we all settled on them being in knee length black infinity dresses. Our color scheme is white & black, with red accents. I'm giving the girls a beautiful red necklace and earring set and a white parasol with a black ivory design and our florist is putting red orchid up the pole of the parasols. My fiance came up with the idea that since the girls will be in black with red accents, he should have his groomsmen in all white suits or tuxes, they haven't figured that part out, with red ties and corsages. I'm not sure how much I like the idea of the boys in all white tuxes or suits. Do you all think it would look good or do you all think it'd be a hot mess?

Re: Not sure how I like it...

  • I absolutely hate white suits/tuxes. If reminds of the "cool kids" in high school wanting to look all spiffy for prom. I know it is really the grooms decision on what he wears but I really think you both will regret the white tux choice down the road. A black tux is classic and sexy (think James Bond).

  • Sorry, I think white tuxes are not a good look. I think these guys look terrible.

A black tux with a red boutonniere is classic. And a wedding party in black with red accents will look striking, I think.

  • I'm with the other posters, I find white tuxes to be hideous. Also this has nothing to do with racism just pointing out that the only men I've ever seen wear white tuxes (to prom or wedding) are black/ hispanic men.

  • So I'm not the only one who thinks that white tuxes are just ew...
I mean, my fiance is wearing a black one, but his thought was that it would add contrast that he and my bridesmaids wear black and his groomsmen and I wear white. By his logic though, if he wanted the colors for the guys to match with mine like his own color will match with the bridesmaids, it wouldn't even be a real white. My dress is ivory and I don't think that'll be any better. I just didn't know if it was me being neurotic about the clothes and colors or not.

No you are definitely not being neurotic.  I would find some pictures of guys in white tuxes (like the one above) and then guys in black tuxes and show them to him.  If he still likes the white tuxes then there is something wrong with him (just kidding...kind of)

  • Unless your FI or one of his groomsmen is a young Roger Moore or Sean Connery (wife beating not condoned) don't do the white tux.

    Anniversary
  • Yeah, I'm all for the groom wearing something he likes, but there can be a poor taste factor here. I'd be saying something too.

I'd also show him pictures of guys in white tuxes to be like, "Are you sure this is what you want to wear?"

These pictures look so much better!
