so im on DB and trying to get idea of what type of wedding dress silhouette to look at. so what would u say i am.
rectangle, hourglass, or pear?

Re: not sure what my body type is?

  • Well, since I can't see you it's hard to tell.

However, just try on all sorts of silhouettes and go with the one you think is most flattering. For the most part, you can't really go wrong with an A-line.

  • sry i thought  the pic went through before i sent post
    its up now,
  • :p I have to say, "rectangle" as a silhouette option is such a dick name.

I don't think you cleanly fit into a particular silhouette, my guess is, "pear" gowns will be the most flattering on you.

And remember, dresses on computer, totally different then dresses in real life.

  • Pear, but you seem like you have a very mild shape.

But don't be afraid to try on dresses not meant for your "shape". Working in retail for 10 years has taught me that no amount of rules can take the place of "just try it on!"
  • I think a lot will look good on you because you are very proportionate. You aren't bottom heavy nor top heavy. I think you'd probably look great in a fit n flare but also an A-line so just have fun trying them on and seeing what you like on yourself :)

  • well i have tried on a-line and mermaid so far!  and i do the love the mermaid style/ fit and flare the most! it gives me curves like i love and so does my FI.  here are some of the dresses i have tried on.
  • Oh those do look fab!

    Oooooga!
(If I were a cartoon character my eyes would be popping out right now.)
  • eveyone in bridal party loved the last one on me, but im just not a ruffle girl. and ivory is the color im going for. and thank you!

  • I am shaped pretty similar to you and I ended up going with a sheath gown. I did like the fit and flares and mermaids on my shape. While I know a lot of people say a line is flattering on almost everyone, it was the one shape that I hated on my body.

  • Personally, the first picture looks very flattering and just amazing one you. It gives you a beautiful shape and compliments your body very well.
  • I like the first one's shape on you the best, I'm not crazy about the 3d detail but that's just me - you totally don't look comfortable in the last one.

  • You pull off all three dresses very well, but I LOVE the first one on you!!
  • eveyone in bridal party loved the last one on me, but im just not a ruffle girl. and ivory is the color im going for. and thank you!

I especially liked 1 and 2 on you the most. I could take or leave the ruffles myself as well (oddly though, my favorite dress thus far has tiers of ruffles!).
  • I think the first one looks amazing on you!
  • I think the shape of the first one suits you best.  The other 2 kind of make you appear short (maybe you are? :P).  And maybe it's just the camera angle.
  • I just glanced at them on a lunch break, but I love love lurve the second one one you! It's gives you great curves and shape. I think you're on the right track, I don't like those ruffles on the third one either.
  • You look absolutely stunning in all 3. The 1st is my favorite only because that is my personal style.  It doesn't matter what shape you are, all that matters is that you find a dress that you think you look good in and one that you feel comfortable in. Also, you might think one style would look awful on you but once you try it on it might be "the one". Or it actually does look awful and then you can all have a nice laugh about it. Have fun trying on dresses and don't let your shape or different styles stop you from enjoying everything! It is nice to get opinions but at the end of the day, the happiest bride is the most beautiful bride :)
  • thank you all very much for the compliments! i think i might try a sheath silhouette on too, but more leaning towards the 1st dress one silhouette!
  • I think "rectangle"/"pear".  I like the first dress on you the most.

  • i love love the first one
  • I like the shape of the first one, but I personally was distracted by the flowers (?) all over it.  They reminded me of cotton balls.
