Wedding Invitations & Paper

Inviting guests to reception only

I am looking for wording ideas or tips on how to invite guests to the dinner and reception but not to the ceremony. We are getting married in a park and want there to only be family members at the ceremony but would want everyone at the dinner/reception afterwards. Please and thanks!

If you are going to have a private ceremony, you would do your printed invitation to invite people to the reception.  Then you call the handful of family that are invited to the ceremony with that info.

Actually, you don't call and give out that information by word of mouth.

What you do is reverse the invitation and ceremony cards.

The main invitation is worded as (per Miss Manners' Guide to Excruciatingly Correct Behavior"

Mr. and Mrs. Bride's Parents (or whoever the hosts are)
request the pleasure of your company
    at the wedding reception of
    Bride
    and
    Groom
    Day, Date
    Time
    Venue
    Address
    City, State

And the ceremony card would say

The honour of your presence (for a religious ceremony)/pleasure of your company (for any other ceremony)
is requested at the marriage ceremony
    Day, Date
    Time
    Venue
    Address
    City, State
