@Swazzle - I buy crockpot liners, so I don't have to scrub the crockpot.  I just do a quick wash with soapy water, so fast and easy!

Our to-do list on the house is pretty crazy.

Outside-

replace the stairs to our covered deck

take some of of the flowers/bushes replant new ones

repaint the covered deck, furnish it and stains the floors

redo the driveway

replace the fan on the covered deck

Indoors-

Kitchen- replace the cabinets and counter tops, put in a new sink, put in new backsplash, replace the oven, and replace the floors

Wine room- paint and some chairs

Entertainment room- furnish with couches and TV

Closet- room off the master bedroom createst the most awesome walk in closet ever. Kind of like this:

I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting too...

I'm doing this in our guest bedroom. I don't know if you have a HomeGoods store in your area at all. They're part of the TJ Maxx family. I bought a whole bunch of white antiquey frames and I'm making a photo college in that room. All the frames are different from each other but they still have the same "style". Personally, I plan to just look up frame collages on Pinterest so I can figure out a way to arrange them. HomeGoods is really good for getting a variety of frames while still sticking in a style family. I don't know how to advise you on choosing a color. I guess the best way to start is figure out your decorating style - traditional, modern/contemporary, etc. and then the basic colors you have throughout your home and go from there. For instance, throughout most of the house I have lots of browns, dark reds, some greens, some golds so I try to stick as close to that as possible while pulling in colors from the rest of the house.

@southernpeach89 - I love it. You can add a ZipList button to your favorites and when you find a recipe you want to use online, you click the button and then it'll add the ingredients you need to your shopping list. It made my planning super easy this morning. 

@CocoBellaF - Oh I need to get those! That would make my life next week so much easier. I'm adding it to my list. Hopefully they sell them in my grocery store.

@lmhollister - our walls are green in the living room, so it makes choosing a color a little difficult.  I'm leaning towards a natural color, but we have a lot of brown wood so maybe not.

@Blue & White - For house hunting, 1 1/2+ bathrooms is a must if your FI is like mine!!  Do not budge on this!!  I keep telling my FI most marriages break up because of finances and ours will be because of a 1 bathroom household.

@BriSox81 I like the 2nd table better - the first one reminds me of my parents 70's furniture.

So I'm having a really rough time right now. I'm absolutely fucking miserable in graduate school. I feel like I've spent 10 years working towards academic biology, and I keep thinking that if I can't get a job teaching at the college level that pays the bills (adjuncts get paid shit), there is just about nothing I want to do with my degree (either my college degree, OR the PhD I'm working towards). I feel like I can't get anything done, and I can't get anything done right, and when I'm done with coursework at the end of the semester, I might ask to leave with my MS. Not that I would know what to DO with it (I don't want to go back to 100% research), but just so I don't have to waste 2-3 more years of my life.

I dealt with the stress yesterday by staying at work until really late for no reason, then going to the gym, and then eating Nutella out of the jar and crying. It was fun.

YES WESTERNS THIS IS MY PROBLEM. I have been doing the same damn one for about three months.

@phira I mastered out after 2.5 years and my life is truly better for it. I get paid horribly as an adjunct but I love my students and teaching. I'm currently transitioning to teaching hs math instead of college bio but will likely adjunct on the side because my students are that awesome.

@dignity100 I think 2 baths is a minimum. I like my guests to shower out of my bathroom haha. I hate cleaning bathrooms so this is probably why.

@swazzle zip list looks awesome. I've been doing a lot more new recipes since I'm at home all day until further notice and keep forgetting ingredients that we don't have lol. I tried to make Jewish apple cake without cinnamon the other day. Fail.

@sakalicious and @phira one time in my lab (read as "one time at band camp") I was making a western. I dropped and spilled almost 2 liters of liquid acrylamide solution. My boss freaked the fuck out. And I got to go home to shower. I would have gotten a chance at testing our trusty lab shower but I didnt actually spill on myself. I did however get to clean up the mess because no one else would touch it and ehs didnt want it to dry into powder for obvious reasons...westerns almost killed me. I also had to come in that evening and mix up more acrylamide. Lab fail.

The most interesting (and very disgusting) part of my day was today, I got the lovely job of cleaning some man's reproductive fluid off the floor of the bathroom at my work.  Not only did I get only three hours of sleep and I still have another hour's worth of homework to do, but I got to clean up after someone's solo super-happy-fun-time in public.  I have some idea on who would be gross enough to do so (we have lots of homeless people in the store), but obviously I can't say it's him for sure.  All I know is he sure left the building quickly (and left his trash behind) once I first went into the restroom to clean it and before I noticed the splooge on the floor.
