Wedding ring question - matching band width with e-ring?

I have a question on buying an eternity band to go with my engagement ring.  I have a solitaire engagement ring, and the band is a half-eternity band, with the diamonds set into the ring.  The band, which I LOVE, is tiny and very delicate-looking, kind of setting off the diamond.

I'm trying to decide whether to get the eternity band that is the exact match to my engagement ring, or to get one size up (diamonds are slightly larger).  They are both set exactly the same and would be flush with my engagement ring, the wedding band would just be slightly wider.

The band that is the exact match is so thin that I'm wondering if it will feel too tiny to wear alone.  I will almost always wear them together, of course, but when we travel I'd like to have the ability to wear the wedding band alone.

I realize this is mostly personal opinion, but curious if everyone just buys the matching band, or if other people have gone up a size for the band, and the rings still matched and looked great together.  Thoughts?

Re: Wedding ring question - matching band width with e-ring?

  • I think it is solely up to you.  My e-ring is like yours with the half eternity band and I just got a matching half eternity wedding band to go with it.  But I think if you prefer the slightly larger wedding band then go for it.  I have friends who go with matching bands, simple metal bands against half eternity bands, or completely different bands all together that don't even fit snug up against each other.
