Which hairstyle do you like better?

I keep ping-ponging back &forth between a few hairstyles. My dress is a sweetheart neckline, strapless, fit &flare. Which hairstyle do you like best? I'd love to hear your opinions!

Re: Which hairstyle do you like better?

  • I prefer the first hairstyle because it is kind of classic and just pretty.

  • Can't see the back of #1, but of the two, I still like the first.
  • Just to keep in mind - unless you have extremely long hair - hairstyle 2 likely will require extensions. hairstyle 1 is more classic and can be done with any length of hair

    This.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • My hair is extremely long &there is a lot of it, so extensions wouldn't be necessary. So either hairstyle would be an option for my current length.
  • The first one is elegant and modern.

I honestly find the second one to be distracting.

  • I love the second one! It's unique but very elegant…

(Plus, it's amazing that you have the hair to pull it off!!!!)

  • I think it depends a lot of the skill of your hairstylist. She/he could achieve one look better than the other. I'd ask their opinion first & maybe try one or both styles out before hand if that's an option.

I like the blond woman's hair, personally, better than the brunette's. because it's more classic Also, all those spirals in the back of the brunette's hair could just look messy if something goes wrong.

I can't stress enough how important it is to have trial runs on the hair & makeup before the big day! Personal experience from a friend's wedding: she winged it with a make-up/hairstylist friend of hers, and it looks like something my 10-year-old cousin could have done! (i.e. not good!)
  • Nicolesands- That is a great point about the skill of the hairstylist. I wouldn't have thought to ask her. I am definitely having a trial run with hair &makeup, so hopefully all goes well. From looking around on her website, she seems to have a strong client base for both hair &makeup styling (she offers both!).
  • Definitely the first one - it's far more sophisticated in my opinion
  • Both are nice so I would take into consideration the time of year you are getting married. If it's going to be a hot day & maybe even humid, I would go for #1 as it would keep your hair off your body which would probably be more comfortable on a hot day.
  • Depends on if you will be fussing with your hair all day, especially if your not use to having it on your shoulder. If you are then you run the risk of your hair going flat and losing its curl, but if you have it completely up you don't need to worry about that, I would suggest maybe doing a similiar style like that for a day and see how long you can go without messing with it and how long the curls can hold for.
  • I personally dislike when hair is styled to one side because I find it only looks good in pictures to that side. If the photographer snaps all these candids of you from the side that the hair isn't on it looks really weird to me. I used to have the bangs that are thick and pushed to one side and I hated how it looked when people took pictures from the other side. Just something else to consider!

I love the first one! It is far more timeless and classic. When you look back at pictures in 30 years, which one is going to look less ridiculous?
  • I prefer the first one.  The second one I could see getting annoying and falling flat half way through the night.  But then again, I prefer hair completely up when in a wedding dress (for the most part).  I don't feel that a half up do or a side stylized ponytail is really elegant enough with such an important dress.

  • 2nd one!

    Best Wishes
  • I like the first style, it seems like it would stay perfect all night long, you wouldn't have to worry about frizz or curls that fall out.
  • Ditto PPs... I love the first, but whichever you go with, have a trial run to be sure your stylist can make it look the way you envision. Keep your weather in mind - I have a lot of hair too, and having it on my neck or shoulder on a hot day is disgusting. Have your trial in the morning so you can see how it holds up through the day. Is your ceremony outside where wind could be an issue? Are you wearing a veil or a necklace that would clash with the side-do? If you go with something trendy, will you look at it in 30 years and think you look silly? (I bet all our moms and grandmas thought they looked fabulous on their wedding days, although we may think they look flat out stupid with beehives and poofy sleeves.)
