Sorry in advance for the non-wedding related rant... My place of employment is embroiled in a legal battle with a competitor - there are only two employers of this type in my city. It's gotten to the point where when someone puts in notice that they're going to the other employer, they're asked to leave immediately. That means that a model employee who has work there for 10 years could decide to go to the other employer and they have to leave before saying goodbye to anyone, and at the end of the day an email will go out saying "Today was so-and-so's last day." It's terrible for morale! I'm so mad because that's not the way we do things - we have farewell happy hours and treat people like their presence for the past how many years was appreciated. Ugh... I know there's business sense behind this but it just makes me so mad. I just found out a friend of mine was asked to leave on Friday without being allowed to finish out her 2 weeks notice; she's been there for 6 years.
