Chit Chat

hello!

So I've been lurking for almost a year, and have recently been feeling comfy enough to post. I guess it's only proper to introduce myself. :)

I'm from NJ, 29 years old. I love to run, which I have been seriously slacking on lately. FI and I have done tons of 5ks, a Tough Mudder, a couple Warrior Dashes, and a Spartan race. We have a Jack Russell Terrier, Maddy, who we commonly refer to as 'the baby'. She's my favorite and I couldn't imagine our lives without her.

FI and I are planning our Sept 2014 wedding, and time is flying. We're in the middle of closing on our first home together (closing is scheduled for this Friday..ahhhhh!). Hopefully I'll stay sane enough to enjoy everything.

I've enjoyed the forums a little too much so far...you guys often have me cracking up. I do appreciate the good advice I've read; its helped me numerous times already!

Re: hello!

  • Welcome! There are quite a few of us here who are also from NJ. Feel free to pick any of our brains, and good luck with your planning!

  • Welcome!!!
  • Hi!
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Hi!

FI and I are planning on doing our first together Tough Mudder in September! I can't wait! We're thinking about doing a Warrior Dash in August, but we haven't decided on it yet.

  • Thank you!

@PDKH and @pinkcow13 - The TM was very hard for me mostly because of the cold weather. We did it NJ in November, a few days after a snow storm. They have since moved them to earlier in October around here! The hardest components are the water ones, when you're wet and its like 30 degrees out. The aetic enema is horrible. And it's usually within the first mile or two!

The Super Spartan had much harder challanges. The one we did was almost 13 miles - the organizers said they got carried away when making it. It was on a ski mountain in the Spring, and we went up and down the mountain more times than I could count.

We started doing them a few years ago, and they have since become super popular. I love seeing more and more couples signing up. Best of luck to both of you!!

I hate the box with a fiery passion.

Anyway, that sounds miserable, but I bet you were proud as hell when you were done!

Yuck to your TM experience. Cold and wet is the nastiest weather to run in for me. We'll be in Colorado in early fall for ours, so hopefully it wont be too bad. I'll have suggest the Super Spartan to FI!

  • Thanks for the welcome ladies!

Thanks @peaseblossom55 for the good vibes for the closing!
  • I know this thread is a little old, but I was lurking for some fellow Spartans and found this post...aroo!  My FI and I also do spartan races and are from NJ (he got me hooked).  Are you signed up for any of the NJ area ones this season?  We'll be at Citi field in April, NJ/NY sprint on 5/31 (a week before our wedding...I know, crazy, don't tell my mother, she'll kill me lol), and the one in the Poconos in July so far.  Best of luck to you with your new home as well.  Very exciting!
