What did you do with your engagement ring during the ceremony?

I thought most people wore it on their right hand, but randomly I just tried to put it on my right hand and it doesn't fit!  I guess I have mutant hands.  Did anyone just not wear it at all?  Is this a common problem or am I legit deformed?

Re: What did you do with your engagement ring during the ceremony?

  • I can't wear mine on my right hand during the ceremony because I will be wearing an heirloom sapphire ring- old, borrowed, and blue!

I'm going to give my e-ring to my MOH to wear/hold during the ceremony.

  •  My engagement ring also didn't fit on my right hand ring finger. My MOH held on to it during the ceremony, and gave it to me right after, so I could wear both rings right away. :)

  • Mine doesn't fit either.  MOH will probably hold onto it.
    Hurray for Hulk Hands!
  • Mine didn't fit on my right hand either. H kept it in his jacket pocket until the reception.

Hahah I like to think I don't have enormous manly hands!  Maybe my left hand is just really dainty.
  • My left hand is slightly smaller. I'm right-handed and my left-handed friend said her left is slightly bigger. It's completely normal.

I kept mine on as usual.  Once we went to the bridal suite after the ceremony I switched them.
  • I kept mine on and just switched them at some point.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I'm probably going to leave mine at home. I'm not going to want to wear it on our honeymoon so I'm going to put it in our safe.

If you are right handed, then your right hand and foot are going to be slightly bigger than your left.

Nothing Mutant about it- your dominant hand/foot is always slightly larger.

  • I thought that was the case (about the dominant hand) but then I read about so many brides who are able to wear the ring on the right hand so then I thought I was weird.
  • It never even occurred to me that I should think about what to do with mine.  So it stayed on my left hand where I always wear it and H just slipped the band on top.

I don't think there's any standardized way of doing it.  My little sister had both her engagement ring and wedding band on the ring bearer pillow and her FI put both on at the same time.
  • I am wearing mine Ering down the aisle.  I will present him with his ring first then when he goes to put mine on I will remove my Ering, he will install new wedding band, then I will put my Ering back.  I has going to wear it on my right hand but I found a ring that I would rather wear and I can't imagine going without it on the big day.
  • Mine will be on the ring bearer pillow, but it's doubling as my wedding band until we can afford the ring I wanted.
  • My right hand is bigger than my left. My ring does fit on my right ring finger, but BARELY. I would be afraid that it would get stuck, so I will probably just have my mom hold it during the ceremony or something. Or, if I wear shoes with straps, I might just put the ring in my shoe. Although now that I type that out it sounds really odd, lol.
  • I'm keeping mine on my left hand and putting my band in front of it

It's probably a better idea to use fake rings on the ring pillow so they don't get lost, especially if your RB is young.  Usually the Groom, Best Man, and/or MOH have the real rings.
