When to send STD?

Is it reasonable to send the STD about 11 months before the wedding? Many of our guests will be travelling across the country, and they may need time to evaluate their financial situations. But what about guests that aren't travelling? Does it make sense to send it to them that early?

By SVD do you mean STD?

You are not required to send STDs to every guest.  If you send them at all, they should go to people whose presence at your wedding is absolutely essential and who will need the extra time to make travel and time-off arrangements.  But 11 months before your wedding sounds fine.

I sent mine in late September for a July wedding for that very reason. A lot of my family liked it because of finances. We did a post card that had our engagement photo on it, and a link to our wedding website on the back so they can see info like hotels and what not.
