DJ Help

I feel like picking a DJ is one of the hardest things to do.  I want a good DJ but am not willing to spend a lot (more than $1000) as all they do is play music and most of which I will recommend.  Can anyone recommend good DJ's companies they heard of and the specific DJ used?  I heard Sound by Design is good but more than I want to spend.  Anyone know anything about Spotlight DJ, Midwest Sound and Light Show, ACA Entertainment or All Star Music.  I was thinking of booking with Midwest as they are reasonably priced until I heard that sometimes their DJ's are not that trained.  Please help.

SBD is worth every penny IMO.And if you plan to recommend most of the music, why not just get an Ipod & Speaker setup?  The DJ's job is to watch the crowd and play music they will respond and dance to.  If you dictate what music is played and your wedding sucks because no one is dancing, will you blame the DJ?  Let them do the job you are hiring them for.

We're using SOS Productions.  They did my sister's wedding 2 years ago and there was no less than 25 people on the dance floor at all times!!  We will have them from dinner music up to midnight for only $650.

When you order a meal, do you look over the chef's shoulder to see if they are doing it correctly?  Of course, not!  Why are so many brides so anal about picking out music?  Oops!  I forgot...there are soooo many lame DJs.  The good ones will do their jobs, however.  Check out All-Star or DJ's  Unlimited!  I've had friends use both!
