Wedding Invitations & Paper

random invite question

Ok for some reason this is really bothering me, so I just need someone else's opinion…

FI has 4 cousins who are all siblings.  3/4 are over the age of 18, so they will be receiving their own invitation.  The youngest I think is 16.  Since the other 3 siblings are receiving their own invite, should I just give the youngest her own invite also?  Or should I put her on her parents invitation?  Thanks!

Re: random invite question

  • Traditionally they would be combined with their parents. But that's up to you in the end.

  • I would give them their own.  If you are like me you had extra invites the extra postage was no big deal.    But really it's up to you.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I would give him or her his or her own, but either way is fine.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Are the 18+ cousins still living at aunt/uncle's house?  If so and they are getting separate invites, I would definitely send a separate one to the 16 year old as well, so he/she doesn't get hurt feelings.  If the over 18s are all at different addresses, I don't think you need to send a separate invite, but you can if you want to.

We had a similar situation and sent the teenager her own invite.  We heard from her parents it really made her day!  Well worth the small, added expense.
  • 2 of the 18+ siblings live at home, and the other lives with her boyfriend.  I think I will send the youngest her own invite.  I'm sure she will enjoy being treated as an adult.

    Thanks!

  • I'm doing it for our only under 18 guest. I think it will make her happy to know that we specifically wanted her to be there and not just as a guest of her parents.
