Inner envelope question

FI and I ordered invitations with inner envelopes.  When we mail invitations, does everything go in the inner envelope (RSVP and directions insert) or just the invite?

    Yes, everything goes in the inner envelope. 

    It was a tradition started centuries ago. When envelopes would get really dirty while being delivered. So the maids or servants would remove the outer envelope and present only the inner envelope to whom it was addressed.
