Wedding Invitations & Paper

Best Ever

So I ordered our Save the Date cards and return address labels from Vistaprint. STDs come in, they're gorgeous. Address labels come in... with only my name, not FI's. So I'm grouchy. Called them, and they fixed it immediately, no fuss.

Best customer service ever.

Do you guys have any awesome stories about your STD or invite vendors?

  •  We also used VistaPrint for a lot of wedding related things! We had one small problem with the quality of something, and it was immediately fixed, & we were completely reimbursed for the entire order! Definitely nothing but good things to say about their customer service!

  • @Maggie0829 I've been thinking about designing my own. How did you print them and do envelopes?

  • My FMIL has designed and will be printing our invites. They are wonderful(both the invites and the future in laws!). We did save the dates through vistaprint and they were fantastic. Our envelopes are from Paper and more! and even their customer service was wonderful!

  • Nice! I ordered my STD's on Walgreen's and picked them up in the store, they were even 50% off so I got $50 worth for $25. After I picked them up and got home there were no envelopes, I was like wtf and drove back to the store and they were very apologetic and gave them to me right away. I will probably just order my invitations from them too since I'm not very formal/ fancypants.

  • I did a picture from our engagement session for our STD postcard on Zazzle.com. The first batch I realized I put the wrong city on them. So I called and they sent me a second set with the correct city free of charge even though I'm the one that goofed. They even said "keep the other ones, we don't mind."

  • @Inkdancer - I made pocketfolds and found a template online that I used.  For envelopes and the necessary paper to make the invites with, I believeI went with www.paper-source.com

Printing, I ended up using a large printer that we have at work.  But my friend printed both her programs and favor cards at FedEx/Kinkos and they turned out really well and didn't cost her very much for both printing and cutting services.

I designed my invites in Microsoft Publisher which I find really easy to use.

  • Yep, that's pretty much what I'll be doing too, @Maggie0829!  I'm excited - the hassle of ordering and fanangling other people's templates is just silly... I'd rather just do it myself (but then again, I like doing this sort of thing).

The bolded is the main reason why I decided to DIY my invites.  I do not recommend DIYing your invites if you do not like detailed oriented or crafty things because then you will just drive yourself nuts and want to pull your hair out.

  • @Maggie0829 Thanks for the suggestions! I will have to decide what I want to do... I like craftsy things but I want to make sure I can make ones that are just as good in terms of quality as what I would buy. No point making it if it looks sloppy.

  • @Inkdancer - if you do decide to go the DIY route make sure to give yourself plenty of time.  When I made mine I made myself focus on doing only one thing at a time.  Like one day I cut out all of the pocketfolds.  The next day I put together the pocketfolds.  I then printed out the invites and RSVP cards.  I then cut out the invites and RSVP cards. Etc, etc, etc.  When you space things out you won't get so overwhelmed and it is easier to take your time and make sure you are doing things neatly.
