I need a venue! Please help!

My fiancé Bradley and I have been engaged since september of last year and we plan to marry June of 2015. We have been searching for the perfect venue without breaking the bank. We would love to have an outdoor ceremony and reception. We are aiming for something that we can make more our own, like our own decor and catering of our choice. We live in a really small town but are close to the St. Louis area. We just want a venue that is very romantic and unique! Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

  • I am thinking that the St Louis local board would be better suited for this question then the attire board is.

  • First yeah, this board is for attire and accessories. Second, usually local board is best. Third, I'm from STL so it's your lucky day.

Try Quail Ridge Lodge in Wentzville ASAP. It books VERY fast for summer weddings,so try to stay flexible with your June date. I think it's $600 for the whole day and doesn't have many catering restrictions.

Other options (you didn't say what your budget was, so I'm just going to roll with it here): The Butterfly House, The Jewel Box, the Larimore Plantation, Bee Tree park (really, most STL or St. Charles parks), The Vineyard at Riverbend Chapel. Also, don't rule out any of the wineries in Augusta or Defiance.

Also keep in mind that you're shooting for June in STL - it could be a beautiful 75 degrees or it could be 95 degrees with 90% humidity. I'd think about having some sort of back up plan for the reception or at least be prepared to rent some industrial fans if need be.

  • Is the botanical garden out? The Laumeier sculpture park is really cool, too. I'd totally have a wedding there, though it might be more ecclectic rather than romantic.
  • Unfortunately the gardens are stupidly expensive. FI and I tried for the gardens, but their exclusive caterer is Catering St. Louis (unless it's changed), and they are not only not that great (I've had them for weddings, fundraisers, and work events and have yet to be impressed), but they are very pricey.

  • Yeah, my mom used to work for the gardens back in the late 80s. I remember it being expensive even then.
  • Cedar Creek is a full service resort in New Haven, MO.  They do beautiful outdoor weddings!  The property is gorgeous.  It's about 1 hour west of St. Louis, close to Hermann.  www.visitcedarcreek.com.  They are listed on TheKnot also.
