Canadian Brides - Pocketfold Vendor

I am looking to DIY my invites and was super impressed with the pocket folds available on Cards&Pockets.  However, since I am from Canada the shipping costs almost as much as my order! Any recommendations for a Canadian vendor for pocket folds or an American one with more reasonable shipping costs?

Re: Canadian Brides - Pocketfold Vendor

  • I'm also having the same problem! Everything I want is in the US and shipping costs are terrible here!

I'm hoping to send stuff to my sister's bf (who lives in the states) and when she goes to visit she will pick things up for me. I still have 1.5 yrs til my wedding so I have lots of time! I figure it's cheaper to pay for extra baggage for her than the shipping fees.

Another option is getting a PO box over the border (if you're close enough to a US border).

Unfortunately I don't know any vendors, but you could look on Etsy.
  • @ shelikespink I actually brought this question up to a couple friends of mine and they said you can actually have stuff shipped to the border and then go pick it up.  There is a company called Kinek that does it so I might look at doing it that way instead since I live about an hour from the border.  I wasn't able to find a vendor that had the colour selection I was looking for or any that could even touch the price of the Cards & Pockets ones.
  • We went with Cards and Pockets for our invites because they had the exact colour and idea we were looking for. The ordering itself was easy as it seemed to lay it all out for us but I wish we had shopped around first. The price seemed reasonable until we added in the dollar conversion factor and even with my paying the shipping and handling, I later found out that I still had to pay a delivery fee because the company uses UPS. It would have been great to have known that at the time of ordering as it was another $60 that was due on delivery. I was okay with the shipping costs (we live in Ontario) up until we found out about all the added fees. It's a good thing I hope to get married only once, otherwise we're shopping around next time. I don't think I would recommend Cards and Pockets and would suggest going to some local wedding shows, there are usually printing places there that could offer a better (and local) deal.
  • I would see if (if you live close to the boarder or course) you can get yourself a PO box on the other side of the border, FI sister did that and It works great for her.

If I hear of any I'll let you know
    Did you check Micheal's?

  • I think Envelopments ships to Canada without additional costs. You can view their products at various stationery stores and then order through the store or online.
  • The only problem with Envelopments is they're significantly more expensive per piece than C&P, so by the time you've got your order, you're essentially spending the same amount.

You could try these guys?  They do ship to Canada but I'm not sure about the extra fees.

  • The problem I am finding with other companies is that they don't have the colour selection that C&P does.  I am looking to do coral invitations and they are no where to be found.

I have tracked down a friend with an American PO box so that's an option.  I have ordered a few samples from C&P so we we will see how they look.

Thank you all for your help :)

    Good luck!

It's brutal ordering from the states now with the Cdn $ being so low... I'm hoping things will turn around!

Another option may be checking out wal mart/michael's/target/staples or calling around.. You would have to do a lot of legwork but if you can save a lot of money it would be worth it!
