And then found the price. It's an older Vera gown, Georgina, but it has everything I like. Strapless, no sweetheart, not blingy or super lacy but not too plain. It has the right amount of flare, I'm not sure what you call it. Trumpet maybe? It is gradual and I love the horsehair.

Anyway even preowned its like $3000. Darnit! I want to spend a lot less. I wonder if I could try to replicate it. I didn't think I wanted to spend the money in having a dress made but this one is making me question that. The more practical side of me noticed a dress I liked alright is on sale at DB for $300 and is strongly considering that option.

    Scratch off your list any dress that doesn't fit your budget.  Forget about it!
    Go to David's Bridal and try on a variety of gowns.  Keep an open mind.  Visit an independent bridal shop and see what they have to offer.  Don't try on anything that doesn't fit your budget.
    It sounds like you have fallen in love with a dress picture.  Unless you actually try it on, you have no idea what it will look like on you.  Those photos are heavily photo shopped, and the dresses look completely different in reality!  Go try on dresses within your budget, and you will have a much better idea of what is right for you.

    I tried on 8 or 9 at David's. The consultant pulled stuff I told her I was not intersted in. I was not overly impressed with any of them. The one that I noticed was on sale I did try on and I think it was nice. Honestly, I'll probably just buy that one. If I can find some time I would like to go shopping elsewhere though, maybe fine one in a simillar shape as the overbudget dress. I'm not one to get attached to something so I'll be alright with whatever I wear, it is just a dress afterall.

    There's tons of gowns out there that have a similar style and shape to the Vera gown. I say you keep shopping for now, and bring along this picture with you and say you're looking for something similar under $X.
