Cheap-bridal.com?

Has anybody ever heard of this site? I loved this Tara Keely when I tried it on a boutique, but I can't afford to pay $1,700 for a dress. This site is selling it for $350 - from China. BUT! They sell it in sizes instead of by custom measurements. What do you all think, does it seem trustworthy?

No.  Buying dresses from China is a bad idea.

  • Have you looked up used dress sites like preownedweddingdress.com and tradesy? Better to have a pre-worn authentic dress then a knock off (that 9/10 looks like a knock off).

  • nonononononononononononononoooooooooo everything about that site is a giant red flag-

Grammatically awkward url- Real companies use professional sounding urls.  Scam sites always have some url like cheap-bridal or weddingdress4u and crap like that.  Also, when you look on the site you'll notice the writing is HORRIBLE.  A real company would have the english translation of their page written by someone who actually speaks the language- you can tell that these pages were written by someone who struggles with the language.

Too good to be true prices- Nuff said. I wouldn't be surprised if it costs at least $350 just for the materials to make the real dress.

Customization- Sounds great until you realize real dress designers only sell based on sizes, unless you're shelling out a ton of money for a custom gown- customization is NEVER free, with one exception- Etsy is the only place where this isn't a red flag, as it's usually one or a few people making the dress by hand for you and they have fewer customers, so they can offer more customization.  Still be careful though, only buy from Etsy shops with lots of good reviews.

It ships from China- The writing says they will send you a Tara Keeley gown in your measurements for $350.  What they mean, is that they will have a disgustingly underpaid worker in a sweatshop TRY to duplicate the dress using poor quality, cheap material, and they'll send you the result of that no matter how crappy and unlike the photo it is (and btw they also steal the photos they post from the designer's original site, so how good it looks in the photo is no indication of how it will look in reality.

Go on Tara Keeley's site, look at the list of authorized retailers.  Either buy the dress from one of those stores, or you might be able to find the gown used for a lower price.

  • I looked at Tradesy and was considering it, but most brides get their gowns altered - doesn't that mean that, even if it's usually my size, it might not fit me? At this point I might just go to David's Bridal.

Can you contact the owner and ask if they had it altered?
  • I didn't see an option, I was wondering the same thing. But with how much the dresses are, and know I'd still probably need to get them altered, it doesn't seem much more cost effective than going to a budget wedding retailer. Thanks for all of your help though! :)
