How much grey is too much?

My braidsmaids are in charcoal satin. My chair covers are silver satin. My accent colour is soft pink (with a small splash of bright pink in the flowers). Can I put the groomsmen in charcoal as well? I don't have black any where else in the decor at all, and I think it might look too harsh. And well, I really love the charcoal suits.

Is it to plain to have the maids and groomsmen both in grey? I think it might be okay because the satin will shine and the flowers will pop more. And for pictures, just means I'll stand out more ;) But my mom is on me that it will look bad. Is there anything I'm not thinking of here?

I think it sounds pretty as long as you're okay with a neutral palette. I love the "weddings by color" tool here on the Knot as it can give you an idea of what It might look like. there are quite a few grey/grey combos.

For example, here are wedding parties in grey: http://www.theknot.com/weddings/photos/gray/wedding-party-looks

  • I think it wouldn't be too much at all.  Here are some pictures to help you visualize it.

  • I love grey.  It's one of my favorite colors.  Honestly, I think the BMs and GMs look better in different colors.  I really don't like the look of the first picture Doeydo posted, but I love the second one.
  • It depends how dark the grey for the suits in my opinion. It would have to be really dark charcoal almost black for me to say it would look good or to me it would be overkill. It starts to look too tacky with too much of the same tones. If you mix up the tones it could be okay. I personally like when the groomsmen have a different color suit than the groom, but of all things I would not match the groomsmen exactly to the bridesmaids like in the photo above where they're on the stairs. I would put them slightly a tone lighter or darker than the bridemaids, and if darker is possible in the greys, I would do that.
