a little back story-I am doing outreach EMT school (one week on site, 2.5 weeks off, back for a week, and so on until September. So. I had to have college patches sewn on to my uniform shirts, and dropped them off at the alterations place as soon as I got back from my first week in school, and left for work that night, 2 weeks in the boonies. Asked one of my coworkers to pick up the shirts, and I would meet with her when I got back to town.
Fast forward to this past Friday, got up at 3 pm, worked until 6 am, drove back to the town I was staying in, grabbed my stuff and dropped off my coworker, and drove 2 hours back home. Called my coworker, and asked her to meet with me so I could get the shirts, at which point she said What?!? Turns out she'd come to the shack on Friday, and left my shirts with the day shift, who hadn't thought it important to let me know they were there. GRRR. I'd already planned to see FI near where he was working (hadn't seen him since Christmas Day), so decided that I would do that Saturday night, then come back to town Sunday, drive to the staff house (2 hour drive west), then drive back home again, attend bridal expo, and then come to college for my next week (6.5 hour drive).
As I was running around doing what needed to be done before leaving to meet FI, all of a sudden, I heard a loud scraping sound from my left front wheel. GRRRRRRR!!!!! I've had it before, and I knew that driving approximately 2,000 kilometres (about 1,200 miles I think) would be disastrous. I called to get a rental car, and the only one I could get will cost me 35 cents/kilometre, after the first 700 free. This is so going to hurt! Talked to the mitsubishi shop yesterday, and have to replace the brake pads, rotors, and calliper, but also have to replace the front tie rod end, and the rear shocks. Total is going to be nearly $2,000, plus about $800 for the rental. Thankfully FI will be paying for the repairs, and I will be paying for the rental. Why couldn't it have happened when i was on my way home from college?!?!?
