DIY invites

I am looking into possibly creating our own mondern and nontraditional wedding invites and programs. Where are some good places to look? I am assuming it will save us a lot of money?!?!

there is broadway paper in the 3rd ward, anchorpaper.com paperandmore.com   There is antoerh post about this too and there may be some more info there. I just ordered samples from anchor paper so I can let you know how those look, I have heard good reviews about them and I am planning to make my own invitations too!

It depends what kind of invite you want. I had my heart set on pocletfolds. Doing it partially DIY cost me about $3 per invite + postage. A woman who does them out of her home quoted me $7.40 per invite (which didn't include elements I later added in my design). If you want something more simple you can prob buy them for a couple bucks a piece online, printed for you. I recommend cardsandpockets.com for pocketfolds. It cost me the same to buy a pocket as it would have cost to buy just the paper from Michaels. Good luck!

I suggest going to the DIY board and just looking at peoples bios to get idea . If you find one you like just ask them how they did it or take bits and pieces and do it all your self and ask questions on the way.

I thought about doing my own invites.  Seemed funny to spend a lot on something that ends up in the trash, when you could spend it on a great band/flowers/wedding ring instead!I went on etsy.com and spent a long time searching their stacks (its addictive... and you can kill an entire weekend if you don't know what you're looking for).  I ended up finding great invites that I love for only $4/each.  When I looked at doing it myself, I would spend a lot more time... and only a little less money.  And, you can even put a "bid"out to see what kind of stuff people can design for a specific price point.  I think Broadway Paper is awesome... I buy all my birthday/etc cards there... but they are definately on the expensive side.Good luck!

I would NOT use Broadway paper for DIY invites.  I wanted to do the same, ordered $950 worth of special order paper through the sales associate, only to get home and find out the invite paper did NOT FIT into the envelopes.  I immediately called the store, the manager said there's was nothing she could do.  I figured when I ordered the paper on recommendation from the associate, she wouldn't sell me stuff that didn't even fit together.  I asked to come into the store to talk about the situation.  I talked to the sales manager, not even the owner.  If I spend almost a $1000 on special order for a WEDDING I better be talking to the owner.

There's no special consideration or checking with special orders.  My wedding was just another sale on the cash register.
