I printed a sample of our invitations!

I'm quite proud of them, though the colours didn't really come out right in the pictures... The background is a mint green, the text a dark green, and the "calligraphy" navy blue.

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • Aw, very nice! That's exciting :)

  • Thanks! I know it's kinda AW-ish, I'm just really proud that my designs are improving!

  • Those look fabulous! The design is very pretty and I love those colors together.
  • very nice, good job.  At first I thought it said at 1 in the morning!  But then I saw the other 1 and noticed it was 11 :)

I am glad I printed ours first for I would have missed spelling my husbands name wrong!  I typed in Micheal instead of Michael.  It went past three people's eyes before I noticed too!  That would have been a fun typo!

  • Thanks ladies!

@erinlin25 Proofing is SO important. I used to proof music albums for the university where my mom works, because after a while she was blind to it. The trick is to read forward once, read backwards once, and read forward again.

My mom also read it as 1 o'clock in the morning. I told her that was something her other daughter (the one having the enforced dress code wedding) would do. LOL I may need to look at other font/colour choices for the text if anyone else reads it as 1 o'clock - we have a fair number of older guests.

  • They are very pretty, but I have to be honest - I miss capital letters!  The all lower case font makes your invitations hard to read.

I hear what you're saying, but I promise it's a lot easier to read physically than in the pictures.

The lack of capitals is a stylistic choice - I tried it with capitals and it just threw the balance completely. Also, the lack of capitals goes a little way to conveying the message that while this is an important day, it's not a formal day.

  • Well, I don't get that message. It just looks wrong and hard to read to me.  Pretty design, though.

Fair enough. I'm sure all my guests will be able to read it though.

    Just a suggestion on wording:

You are invited to the marriage of
    Elizabeth
    and
    Sean
    Friday, October 31, 2014
    eleven o'clock
    Venue
    City, State

    Reception to follow

    RSVP before October 11, 2014

It's a lot less wordy.  Don't put "kindly rsvp by"  RSVP means please respond.  You wouldn't say "kindly please respond".  This is a grammar error.

    Just trying to help.

Thank you SO much! I can't believe I missed that! I had "kindly respond" on the first draft and somewhere along the line I must have messed it up.

This is why proofing is important!
