Hostess Gift

My aunt has graciously offered to host a bridal shower for me. The shower won't be until March or so, but I came across a situation and didn't know if this was etiquette-approved.

We went shopping together over the weekend, and my aunt found a punch bowl that she just kept raving about. She obviously very much wants it, and I think it would be a lovely gift for her. The questions is, can I give her this gift before the party? I only ask because she might want to use it for the shower, but I don't want it to come across as my giving her a gift specifically for my own event. She does host quite a bit through the year for family events, so I know she would get use out of it other times. I would think typically you'd give a hostess gift after a party. Is it okay to make an exception here?
