Glass smashing

Has anyone else noticed how several posters bring up the international boards about the "smashing the glass" custom as if it were a "bonding," "unity," or "cuteness/inclusiveness" ritual instead of in remembrance of the destruction of the Temple and sorrow that occurs in married life?

    I remember one post a while ago where someone thought it would be a great idea for her kid to break the glass.  Have there been others?

    I saw another one in a post where someone was asking about ways to "include" children.
