I quit. I just freaking quit. (oh, and I could use Ts&Ps too!)

Yeah, I know the complaining is getting old for those of you who aren't stuck in Polar Hell, but I am so over this weather, over snow, over not being able to get in my driveway AGAIN, over the snow storm that is predicted for NEXT week when we are still in the current one, the meteorologist saying there isn't really any relief in sight, and that they really don't predict March and April to be very warm at all.  I am done.  Getting away for a few days isn't an option.  I start a contract position on Monday that will probably last for 10 months if I am lucky, more than likely 8.  Any vacay time I earn is being saved for DDs wedding in June.

I will be in the living room in my blanket fort with graham crackers, milk, and Disney movies.  I am done with this.

For the Ts&Ps - I have a job interview on Wednesday for a Federal job.  A real one - one that doesn't depend on Congress passing enough money in the budget to extend it a few more months.  I would kill for this job.  I want to be back on Post, working with Soldiers everyday until I decide I am done.  This is a Secretary for one of the directors.  I know the entire chain of command from my military career and I know they respect my work and work ethic.  I also have 19 other people interviewing so it isn't like I have this in the bag.  I want this job reallllllly bad!  Positive thoughts and prayers much appreciated.  I will send homemade cake and cookies if I get it!

OK, now, I am off to my fort.

I'm fed up with this cold.  It's February and I just ordered a new pair of winter boots because the ones I have aren't warm enough.  It's February!  I should be getting ready for spring!

  • Good luck kmmssg!

I hear you on the winter front.  I'm over it and were didn't even get it as bad as you.

I just back from taking Chef out and realized that I bought my Hunter boots Thanksgiving weekend and I can only think of a handful of times where I haven't had to wear them since.   60+ days I've worn those boots.  Even on the non-snow/cold days there has been rain (like today).    Worth every penny, but still.

  • First things first, T&Ps on the job situation.

Now on the other, I'm sick of winter, too. Forget the Superbowl, tomorrow is Groundhog Day.

  • Aw, thanks everyone!  I think everyone caught up in the snow is stuck in their cranky pants when we really just want our flip flops and a grilled burger...

My grandkids ended up with 13 snow days in the month of January alone - they had FIVE days in school the entire month.  My DDs have been going nuts because the kids haven't even been able to play outside.

I need some more graham crackers...
  • Good luck on the job interview!

I just applied for four postings with our state (who are known for being turtles when it comes to getting anything done with hiring) and the wait is killing me.  It'll all be worth it in the end for the increase in pay and benefits I'd be getting.

Yeah, the snow can just...go away.  I was so happy that our yard was almost completely melted yesterday and now these shenanigans.  I think we got an extra 5", but some parts of my driveway are more like 10".

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • kmmssg - how are they going to make up the time.  Here in Indy they are talking about Saturdays.

  • Good luck on the job and have fun in your blanket fort!
  • @lyndausvi - I don't know yet what the makeup plan is.  But oh my will my 2 grandkids moving to IN be pissed to find out they may be going to school on Saturdays!

The "blizzard of 78" was my senior year in high school (yeah, I know a bunch of you probably weren't even born yet.  Damn) we missed a ton of school.  We gave up our Spring Break and also went to school one Saturday.  Good thing because I had a hot date with Air Force Basic Training 6 days after graduation.
  • Good luck! I'm currently in the middle of a blizzard... :(

pumpkinandturkeys, we're expecting snow this week in CT.  Make me feel better, by comparison, how much snow did you get? We haven't had a lot of snow, so far, but the cold has been horrible.

  • @MairePoppy -- overall this year, we've had craploads. I can't even count the number of times I've had to work from home because our office called an 'inclement weather day.'

Yesterday wasn't too bad in terms of accumulation -- maybe 8 to 10 cm? The visibility was horrible, though. My girlfriend and I went to the mall, and we could barely see half of the parking lot when we came out. Driving home was pretty shitty, too.

And then the rain came and melted half of the snow, and turned the rest to ice; FI could barely break it up with a shovel. We're supposed to get a few more cms later this week, and I'm so over it.

  • Thanks. Now I feel better.
