Today was such a crummy day. I got my period yesterday, so today I feel like crap. Didn't help that I drank more than I wanted to yesterday at the Super Bowl party. So today at work I was exhausted all day, crampy, nauseous, cranky, and bloated. I also had no idea it was going to snow until I woke up and looked out the window. Joy.

So I skipped the gym today even though I had to run. I'm just laying on the couch watching Dateline while FI does laundry. Gonna start dinner in a few, maybe some whole wheat pasta. Oh, and I got home and the light in the bedroom was on. I think our kitty Kapuchee turned it on, he kept turning the light on and off yesterday.

Although I hate the snow, it was actually pretty on our block, so I took a pic, which I uploaded. Hope everyone else had a better day!

  • nice picture. hope you feel better soon.
  • Pretty!

My day was so-so. Work wasn't busy, which was nice, so I spent most of the day doing optional training modules online and listened to music. However, I had a migraine and was fairly nauseated, so that part sucked.

Another plus: I'm no longer spotting from the pills the nurse gave me last week (I swear, two of the days were like a normal, heavy period. Yeesh). Another pitfall: FI bought these 'scorching hot' wings, which generally aren't as hot as they claim... Wellllllll, this brand is true to the name. Our tongues were so coated in pepper sauce and burned so badly that I couldn't feel my tongue, and I was afraid that I was risking blisters on my lips. We actually had to attempt to rinse off the sauce to make them edible (it worked, somewhat). I then downed a whole container of Greek yogourt. That was half an hour ago, and my lips still hurt.

Finally, more snow is coming tomorrow. Joy.

  • Thanks @cruffino!
@pumpkinsandturkeys, awesome, glad to hear the spotting stopped, that is the worst. Yikes! I love spicy food, but not when it is so spicy it hurts! I heard somewhere that milk supposedly helps. There was this amazing wing place where we went to college and one of our friends ordered the spiciest wings they have- I think they were called Jet fuel or something. They had a plane theme. Anyways, I took a teeny tiny bite and I sweat my mouth was tingling for hours after.

Ugh I think it's supposed to snow tomorrow and Wednesday. Sigh.

  •  Pretty picture! We have like 2-3 feet of snow through out town, and more outside of the city. We've had lots of snow, and insanely low temps! H and I are heading to Cuba in the morning, & I *can not* wait!! :D

Work was work. Kinda busy, & went by pretty quick. Ate Subway for dinner. I had a veggie salad, then ruined the 'healthy eating' with a chocolate milk. :P

@pumpkinsandturkeys, my H and I recently bought these bbq caesar wings. Thinking 'caesar dressing', not 'caesar-celery salt rimmer.' They were horrible! I would have traded for your crazy hot wings!

  • So pretty! Sorry you didn't feel great today. Hopefully tomorrow is better. *sends magic crackberry cookies*

I spent today "working" from home - AKA napping until 1pm, checking my work email intermittently, and shoveling FI's parking space before he got home from work. Still seething from the fam issues, but I am so over having drama with them that I just don't give a shit anymore. Otherwise, it's been a really good lazy day.

  • My day sucks -- and it's only the equivalent of my noon.

I am over this snow, and over this winter, and over this stupid Polar Vortex.

I have a gyno appointment on Friday, and I can't remember the first day of my last period (apparently, 'mid-January' isn't specific enough. Who knew?) so I have to do a PG test AND fill out the OB paperwork, too, just in case I'm preggers. Fabulous.

We are seriously, seriously, SERIOUSLY short-staffed at work -- like RIDICULOUSLY under-staffed -- and it's taking a toll on all of us.

And DH and I had a disagreement about his grandmother, so I'm ticked about that.

  • @cookiepusher- haha, thanks for the cookie!! I am actually craving a cookie right now. Ugh. I'm tired from family myself. Saturday we saw my parents at my little cousins bday. They were cool though, and my mom didn't annoy me lol. She did tell me she had some magazines with venue information upstate, where they live. It's the first time she showed interest in the wedding. Yesterday we drove to the Super Bowl party at FI's uncle with FMIL and she got pretty annoying with wedding stuff until FI basically told her (nicely) too chill out, because we got it covered . Yay lol.

@hisgirlfriday13- I know, I cannot stand the snow. This polar vortex sucks!!! I downloaded an app for tracking my period, but half the time I forget to track it so it's usually off lol. Like this last time, I must have tracked to wrong because I was expecting mine on Wednesday. I absolutely hate going to the gyno. I didn't know it was that serious to know the date of your period, either. Geez.
Ugh, that sucks that you guys had a disagreement over his grandma. What happened?

  • I'm feeling a bit better now, because I convinced FI to take me to Dairy Queen, with little to no whining and pleading involved. Mmmm, Blizzard!

However, I'm freezing now haha. -20 C weather and ice cream is a bad plan.

  • @pinkcow -- I know, right? I know (roughly) when I had it in January (I have a notation in my cheque register that I bought tampons, FFS), but apparently THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Whatevs. I'm like, 99% I'm not pregnant, so it's just "OK, pee on a stick."

Ugh...grandma. So, she's (literally) losing her mind, slowly. Also, she is really, really, REALLY unsteady on her feet. She had one knee replaced about 15 years ago, but now the other one is really off -- if you look at her knees head-on, one leg is straight up and down and the other leg has a 10- to 15- degree bend in it at the knee. She limps, badly, she has trouble making it up stairs (we took her out to lunch on Friday and she barely made it up the six steps to the restaurant, and that was WITH holding onto the railing AND having DH helping her), she holds on to walls and furniture to walk around a room.

Essentially, think of her walking the way a toddler who's learning to walk is -- unsteady and dicey and prone to falling. But with a toddler, it's expected and they're not falling far.

I worry -- and I told him this -- that she's going to trip over her effing cat and break a bone (or worse). I suggested he tell her -- nicely but firmly -- that she needs to start using the walker and/or can the doctor prescribed for her. He said, "She has them but she doesn't like to use them. They make her feel old and feeble."

I said, "Not to be rude, babes, but she IS old and feeble. That's the problem. And if she falls -- then what?"

He said, "Well, that's why she wanted us to get life alert for her, so if she falls she can use that. She wants to be independent."

I said, "And life alert is going to do her how much good if she falls and cracks her head open and is unconscious?"

He got shirty with me over that, and accused me of being pessimistic and doomsday-ish. I prefer to think that I am, you know, PRACTICAL here.

What it boils down to is neither he nor his aunt (who are her POAs) want to face putting her in a home or an assisted living facility because they don't want to fight with her on it (she wants to die in her house) AND they don't want to deal with the mess of cleaning out her house (both literally, as she's a hoarder, and figuratively, as his family puts the fun in dysfunctional).

So instead, we get to kind of muddle along with things the way they are (dangerous).

  • @pumpkinsandturkeys - that sounds amazing!! Great, now I'm craving a sundae of some sort lol. I actually just remembered I have some lemon bars from TJ's in the freezer, so I can have that as a yummy treat, yay!

@hisgirlfriday13 - Yea what a pain that is. I am the worst at remembering my period which is why I have the app. But I suck at tracking so it doesn't do me much good lol. She should definitely use the walker or cane. I think the same thing, when I see the Life Alert commercials. Sure, they're great, but they do not handle everything. I mean what if you fall and become unconscious, then what good will the Life Alert be? Especially if she is a hoarder, she can trip over anything. Can they have someone go to her home, like a nurse or something, so that she can stay at home but still have someone looking after her? I understand the need for her being independent, but she is old and not in the best shape, so they have to think that yea, something might happen to her. They need to think of that before something does happen.

E.X.AC.T.L.Y. And thank you -- that's EXACTLY what I said. If she falls and knocks herself out, then what? Does she lie on the floor until she comes to? What if she gets a brain bleed and dies?

  • Yea it sucks to think about it, but they need to consider worse case scenarios. And it's just a walker! It would be terrible if she falls just because she didn't want to use the damn thing.

I totally would have done actual work, but I didn't bring any documents or anything home with me. Also, because of our cyclical production schedule, I've already done end of month billing but we haven't laid out our publication for me to track ads yet. It literally leaves my only responsibilities as answering the phones and signing for UPS/mail/FedEx which I can't really do from an hour away. For what they pay me, there is no way I was going to make up work so I could be "working" from home! lol

I think I went to the same college, well one in that same town. I'm not a big fan of spicy so I usually got honey mustard, still so good. It seems like that place is everywhere now, guess it became a franchise?

Even though I like spicy, I didn't care to get their spicy wings because their honey mustard ones were so amazing.Yea, I think it became a Franchise I think they have them in a lot of upstate NY towns/cities.

It's beautiful until it turns black and/or you have to shovel it. Just ask my back and shoulders (and yes, I lift properly from my knees). Or when it knocks out heat and electricity to hundreds of thousands of people for days or weeks - really, the snow/ice storm of '11 was gorgeous for about a half hour! I always see people of FB that live in warm climates begging for snow... until lots of places started getting the affects of the Polar Vortex!

  • @pinkcow13 - The winter storm here just hit the city this afternoon! We have a winter storm warning, and have got about 2 feet since around noon. On top of the 2-3 we already had. The roads are ridiculous, and it's like a complete white out! I won't be surprised if this shuts down the city, if it keeps going at this pace!
  • Right now, I hear ice falling down on our window. Luckily we took tomorrow off, because it was pretty terrible going in to work earlier. Where are you located?
