Sending out STD soon and I want to address them so the post office can deliver them and somewhat formally because I love using titles! So I wanted to double check that I had the right idea.  Also what is that website that you guys use for invite help? I want to make sure that I'm doing these right and so I found every combination we had and generalized them:

(1) Single Guests
Ms. Hannah Jones
-or-
Mr. George Micheal

(2) Protestant Priest, -> Minister*(Edited Correction) who has a wife and daughter
The Reverend and Mrs. George Michael
Daughter Michael

(3) Married Couple with family - same last name (order children by age?)
Mr. and Mrs. George Michael
Child1, Child2, and Child3 Michael

(4) Man with child
Mr. George Michael
Child Michael

(5) Married Couple, different lastname
Mrs. Hannah Jones and Mr. George Michael

(6)Non-married Couple (does it matter who goes first girl or boy?)
Mr. George Michael
Ms. Hannah Jones

(7)Medical Dr.
Doctor George Michael

(8) Non-catholic deacon and his wife? No clue.

    1. Yes that is correct.

    2. You could do that but I would say and family instead of daughter. Also take out the word "The" (EX: Rev. and Mrs. George Michael and Family)

    3. Again, I would say and family. (EX: Mr and Mrs George Michael and Family) or (The Michael Family). Which way would depend on how formal you want to be. Also, remember any child over 18 gets their own.

    4. I would say Mr. George Michael and Tony Michael (or Mr. George Michael and Family).

    5. I would put the guy first (just my personal preference and opinion)

    6. Again, I would put the guy first. (just my personal preference and opinion)

    7. Yes. Correct

*Note: Reminder - anyone over 18 gets their own. I also attached a picture to help you. Hope it does!
  • I don't know if it's appropriate but for #6 I put the person we're closest to. If it was a girlfriend of mine bringing her boyfriend, I put her first... If it's my husband's coworker bringing his girlfriend, the male coworker went first...since THAT is who we're inviting, really...if for some reason they weren't together and he had someone else in his life, we'd put that person's name. I hope I just made sense... :)

Thanks! If possible I'd love to list the children by name just because I always loved that when I was younger and I know my mom liked it. :) To me, it feels more personal! If it is completely wrong I will do away with it.

So I wanted to double check that I had the right idea.  Also what is that website that you guys use for invite help? Many people on this board refer to Crane's. I want to make sure that I'm doing these right and so I found every combination we had and generalized them:

    (1) Single Guests
    Ms. Hannah Jones
    -or-
    Mr. George Micheal

    (2) Protestant Priest, who has a wife and daughter If he's a priest, is he Reverend or Father? (I only know protestant ministers/pastors, who are Reverend)
The Reverend and Mrs. George Michael
    Miss* Daughter Michael

    (3) Married Couple with family - same last name (order children by age? yes)
    Mr. and Mrs. George Michael
    The Misses/Masters/Messrs.* Child1, Child2, and Child3 Michael

    (4) Man with child
    Mr. George Michael
    Master/Mr.* Child Michael

    (5) Married Couple, different lastname
Mrs. Ms. (unless you know she prefers Mrs.) Hannah Jones and Mr. George Michael

(6)Non-married Couple (does it matter who goes first girl or boy? depends on whom you ask. If sending to a home where only one of them lives, put that name first for the post office. If not, some say alphabetical order, and some say "ladies first")
    Mr. George Michael
    Ms. Hannah Jones

    (7)Medical Dr.
    Doctor George Michael

    (8) Non-catholic deacon and his wife? No clue. I do not believe that this is a title outside of the church. (I know my grandfather never used it, but that doesn't really help you.) Is there someone in your church that you can ask if no one here knows?
*I'm not sure on the kids. I think I've read that you should use titles for the children when there is only one envelope, but I could be remembering incorrectly. Hopefully someone else can clear that up.
Sorry, not Priest, he is a minister! My bad.  Thanks so much.

Why, just curious, is the married woman with a different last name Ms? Is this true when she has a hyphenated name and he doesn't? I'll have to find out what she prefers. Good thing I'm not shy! :)

  • Schatzi13 This helps a ton! Thanks, I'll just ask the two with different names what they prefer to insure I don't offend.
