Bill Nye has blown my mind

So, I'm watching the Bill Nye vs Ken Ham debate, because that's what I do for fun, and I just found out that the only degree that Bill Nye has is a bachelors in science.  I don't know if I grew up on too much "Bill Nye, the science guy," but this seems amazing to me.  I don't know why, but I always assumed he had at least one PhD.

Bill Nye is the BEST.  That guy convinced me that science was fun and there was no need to be scared of it because I was a girl.  Not that I became a professional scientist, but still.  Having a general interest in science can only be good for your brain.

I love Bill Nye! I watched the debate too and I have to say that I find it a little scary that the guy he was debating, Ken Ham used to be a science teacher.

how is there even a creation museum? and why is this even being debated? i am baffled by the choice to be ignorant.

There is a creation museum. I forget where it is. Nothing but a big building full of scientific inaccuracies.

The creation museum is in Kentucky, about two hours from where I am. It was built through private donations. From what I understand most of its revenue comes from out of state visitors, mainly church groups. Also a lot of Amish people.

I haven't watched it yet. I truly don't understand people like this. I was raised in a religious home but wasn't taught to take the bible literally and was taught about evolution, even at Catholic school. I don't get why people find the concept so threatening. 

I am an atheist these days but feel that being a believer isn't a bad thing, but there are far better reasons to be one than as an explanation for how the earth came to be. The bible has wise words in it but a science text it is not. 

Guy is nuts. Unfortunately I'm guessing it's kind of a pointless to debate with people like him. Reason doesn't matter.
