Breakfast with my mom :)

So I am having breakfast with my mom later today (it's already 230 AM my time) before I get ready for work. It will be nice to get some one on one time with her. I see her almost every weekend but it's always me, my fiance, her and my dad so I am looking forward to just me and her. The downside is that taxes will be discussed while at breakfast. Lol. She's helping me make sure I have everything I need since this tax year is going to be crazy with my w-2s from a couple different jobs, medical issues / bills, etc and it's always nice to have her kind of double check things and make sure I have what I need for when I file.

It may be strange but it never hurts to have someone who has been filing a lot longer than I have take a quick peek. Lol

Re: Breakfast with my mom :)

  • Have fun on your breakfast date! I'm considering getting breakfast not because I forgot my fiber bar at home and I'm starving. My mom started working with H&R Block as a side job, so she did my taxes last year. I will probably have her do my taxes this year as well since I can't be bothered with tax stuff lol.

    I had fun! Thanks!

  • Tax confession: I filed an extension last year and then never actually filed the return.  So now I have two returns to file this year.  I'm a disaster.

    Yikes!

My cousin didn't file last year because he thought he didn't have to. His parents claimed his as a dependent even though he was still working 2 full time jobs and paid for everything of his on his own

  • Yeah I totally should have filed-- I was definitely due a refund.  My friend's H is an accountant and kept saying he would do it, but was flaky about getting back to me.

Mostly it was because I had no idea about how to file my taxes considering the shit we went through with Hurricane Sandy, whether we have to file our FEMA assistance, etc.  I was just really emotionally overwhelmed with having to get out any of that paperwork again.  At the time I was putting off filing, I wasn't diagnosed, but I found out later I have PTSD which explains why I was so unable to deal with anything relating to that experience.  I plan to just find an H&R Block or something where I can bring in a box with all my paper and just get it off my chest.

I love H&R Block. My fiancé and I always go there!

  • I had some serious crazy tax stuff when I was freshly out of college (4 different 1099s [it might have been 5?], 1098 for student loan interest, 2 W2s, and freelance pay that I didn't pay taxes on in advance [oops]). H&R Block seriously saved my butt.
