Thanks to getting measured for my wedding dress, I now know why finding any normal dress is pure torture. My hips are a size 6, my waist is a size 4, and my bust is a size 12. Way to not be a team player, boobs! Since it's easier to take away fabric than add, I agreed with their recommendation of ordering a size 12. But for everywhere else, I'm so afraid that alterations will make the dress not look as a nice as a dress needing less alterations. Can some of you who have been there and done that tell me that with a great tailor, you'd never know how many alterations a dress actually had? The dress is a satin fitted with a fishtail. No beading, but it does have some detailing with the way the fabric is cut. My mom helped me buy my dream dress, so it's terrifying to think about how it might be cut and altered to death. The salon we bought it from has a great reputation, so they know what they're doing, right?!
