Welcome to the Weekend!

My work week is over. I've done what I can and if it's not good enough for the higher ups then that's just too bad for them. Now I'm going to go take a nap, and when I wake up I will drink all the alcohol and do some writing.

What are your weekend plans?

Re: Welcome to the Weekend!

  • Boo.  My Friday is just starting.  About to head to work.  At least I teach PE, so I can waste today with Olympic coverage!!  ;)

  • Tonight: I am a dork and it's the opening ceremonies of the Olympics! I will be glued to the TV. With a glass of wine in my hands.

Tomorrow we're all going out to dinner for my friend's birthday. That's about all I have planned so far.
  • Only two hours into my Friday work day. I'm going out tonight for a friend's birthday. I want to drink all the drinks but I also don't want to have to wake FI up and make him come out in the cold to bring me home. We don't have too much going on this weekend, just going to the outlet mall so I can treat myself to a little something something with my tax return and then go grocery shopping. How exciting! Sunday we'll go over to his parents house to visit with a dog that they are hoping to adopt. They had one dog, adopted a new dog last weekend but his mom has her heart set on this purebred German Shephard she saw at an adoption fair so they are having that dog over this weekend to see if she's a good fit. I have a feeling by Monday that there will be 3 dogs and 4 cats in that house (huge animal lovers with the space for it).

  • Ditto @ClimingBrideNY for tonight's plans. Can't flippin' wait!!

Tomorrow my bestie is bringing her beautiful twin babies over for a visit. One month old and I can't wait to get some snuggles in.

I think Sunday we're going monster mini-golfing. FI's son got tickets for Christmas and they are about to expire so time to get our game on.

  • Sadly no weekend for me. I go into work at 6 tonight and my shift ends at 6 Tuesday. :-/ This also mean I will miss spending my birthday with FI. But at least we will have our anniversary together Wednesday! :-)
  • Olympic opening ceremonies tonight. Piano practice Saturday. Blocking baby afghans Sunday. Otherwise more knitting, deep cleaning, and laundry.
  • Yay, DH just told me he is taking me out for dinner.    The rest of the weekend is moving related.

VENT - so yesterday I booked a movers.  I think I was still on a high from getting the new car and was kind of too agreeable.   As soon as  I did it it didn't feel right, my gut just felt like I made a mistake.  (mainly they asked for a deposit).  So I cancelled them a few hours later via the complicated process on my contract.   This morning I called to verify receipt of the emails.  They kept asking me over and over on why.  I didn't want to say my gut was you are not good, so I just said there was a change of plans.  He keep harping on my about canceling.  I'm like "look, do not take this personal, the plans have changed".

A few hours later I'm still waiting on the confirmation email.  As I'm calling them to check on the status, those little bastards called my husband on why we are canceling (they had his number as a backup but everything including the card is in my name)   They were trying to get him to change his mind.  DH was like talk to my wife, she's in charge of this stuff.  They just kept harping on him and finally DH just hung up on them.

I'm  finally get them on the phone and they once again say "why are you canceling?"  I again said "plans have changed and we no longer need your services".       He says "lier, your husband already said you are going with someone else.   You will get your refund".  Then he hung up.  HA!

I've since received 2 different email confirmations that the refund is on the way.

Morals of this long story -    Go with with your gut.   Oh and men who try and go around the wife and talk to the husband suck.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • I am finishing off my day at work, and after I am leaving to go to the bay area for the weekend mainly for my nephews birthday but I also picked up a work event so will be judging a dance comp tomorrow.  Dinner with my BFF afterwards and then Sunday my nephews birthday party...then its Monday again and we start all over.  All I know is next weekend I am doing NOTHING and am highly looking forward to it!  I gave H an out since I will be working and he would be bored out of his mind with all the rain. This my second weekend in a row leaving him though so I feel guilty and party of me wishes I could play "it is raining too much card" and cancel everything so I can just be lazy at home with H.
