I'm pretty sure this article just described Fi's dream wedding.  http://www.buzzfeed.com/emmyf/signs-youre-at-an-italian-wedding

I'm pretty sure most of this will happen at our wedding.  Not happening: jordan almonds, knick-knack favor, hopefully no relatives will bring Tupperware, I'm not actually having 20 bridesmaids but there will be a lot.  I tried to tell Fi I didn't want to do a veil and he almost had a heart attack.  So, a veil it is.

  • I read this. About half happened at my Big Fat Italian wedding.  Yes I was made to wear a veil- all night long.  My family would have had a heart attack if I took it off.

  • OMG, this was hilarious! My parents were both previously married when they tied they knot in '92. They didn't do a church wedding for a variety of reasons, but had their ceremony at the banquet hall. With over 200 guests. And I swear, 90% of the male guests were named Angelo, Michael, or Paul and 90% of the female guests were named Angela, Marie/Maria, Theresa, or a combination of them. (FI is Irish and almost every male relative in the generations above him is named Pat. Seriously. Male and female.)

Oh man, the flashbacks I'm getting from this list....

  • This is so true to so many weddings I've attended. And some of my first wedding.
  • PS The tupperware thing happened at my wedding. SMH.

  • Hahaha. That was cute. My family is Irish/French and his is Irish. I've never been to an Italian wedding but I bet it would be fun.
  • I sent this to Fi and he said, "Maybe you can pick four things to talk about crossing off the list."

No joke, ALL of this is his family!

  • I grew up in a VERY Italian area, and I don't doubt that every single one of these things is true.

  • I'm not Italian, but I love Italian weddings. From what I've seen, Italians know how to eat, drink, celebrate with abandon and make strangers feel like family. I hope you have a beautiful Italian wedding and let the aunties bring their tupperware : )

p.s. I'd be so disappointed about the Jordan almonds.

  • Am I the only Italian that thinks Jordan almonds are gross?

My family has adopted the Jordan almond tradition from our Italian friends. My mom bought huge bags of them for my daughter's shower. Guests were stealing each others favors. Mom had a bag left over, so she put a bow on it and sent it home to my Armenian SIL. He was ecstatic.

  • I've never had Jordan almonds. What are they exactly?

Same here...I don't get the almond reference?

Nope. Pretty sure most of my family hates them, and the rest abhor them. But no one says anything because they think everyone else likes them. It's kind of funny, actually. My mother refused to have them at her wedding - she gave out little packs of mints instead. She said she didn't want anyone breaking their jaw on the nuts. lol

  • I think the only reason I'm not having one of these weddings is because FI is Italian on only his mom's side and this will be his second wedding.

Otherwise, there would have been 200 guests and I've already been told one of his Aunts always takes home food and that he wants a cannoli cake.  But we are having tons of food and tons of booze. Can't wait!!

  • I like Jordan Almonds. I didn't realize they were an Italian wedding thing since I have been too many weddings with them and my family is not Italian.

@HobokenBride2012I actually don't mind them, but they're best when they're fresh. My Mom legit sent to the confetti factory in Sulmona for the almonds for my wedding. My FI's Aunt actually flew to Italy to get them for his cousin's wedding.

    Italians be crazy, yo.

@jdluvr06 They are sort of like almonds at the center of an M&M.  Actually they aren't bad, they're just EVERYWHERE if you are Italian.

  • Yea I don't like marshmallows, either. The only time I ever like marshmallows is when they're in s'mores!
