XP: brooch bouquet

yes or no? tacky? too heavy? mixed with cloth or paper flowers?

i'm very curious about these..... the rest of my wedding is outdoors so minimal flowers......

Re: XP: brooch bouquet

  • Personally... I think they're overplayed. If you collect brooches or already have a huge assortment passed down from family members, awesome. If you're going out and buying a bunch of brooches you'll never use again just to make a bouquet with no personal meaning to you but just to look "different" like everyone else on Pinterest? I'd roll my eyes. Same as every barn wedding for a girl who's never stepped foot on a farm.

If you just don't like flowers or don't want to use them, I'd try to find something that is personal to you. Make paper flowers from a copy of your favorite book, or sheet music if you're a musician/music lover (maybe the sheet music of the song you're walking down the aisle to), or just cloth flowers cuz crafting is your thing and you love to make cloth flowers.

  • I don't think they're tacky, but I do agree that they're a bit overdone as a "pinterest trend."  If you love antique/costume jewelry and want to incorporate that into your wedding, however, I wouldn't side-eye it.

  • I agree with pp - if you're not actually into brooches, then do something more personal for your style. If the wedding is outdoors, look into the natural suroundings for inspiration - red branches, cattails, etc. Do what you know you'll love!
