BM gift VS. MOH gift

I really tried to look for an answer before I posted, I'm really hoping that I didn't miss anything obvious!

I am shopping for BM gifts individually, as I would for their birthdays, and I was curious if you ladies spent more on your MOH or kept it all the same.  I know my MOH is throwing me both a bridal shower and a bachelorette party on her own dime, and coming in from out of state to do so (I promise that I told her it wasn't necessary!).  Is it appropriate to spend more on  a gift for my MOH? Or should I give her a hostess-style gift at the shower?

Personally, I'd be handing her a hostess gift for both parties,. That way it's evident the extra thank you is for the time and money she put in, not just being your MOH, you know?

BTW, I don't think you have to stress overmuch about making monetary completely value even across the board. As long as you aren't handing a $5 movie bin DVD to one friend and a $200 Sephora gift card to another, you're probably fine.

My MOH co-hosted my shower with my mom (and then mom & MOH each got a gift from me) and then my bachelorette party was hosted by my MOH and 3 BMs (they each got a very small gift at that point)...and then lastly, I gave the gifts at the rehearsal dinner for being a part of our wedding day. So, 3 gifts for the MOH.

I agree with the ladies, your hostess gifts should be separate from your MOH/Bridesmaid gifts, particularly since your MOH/BM gifts aren't meant to be in thanks for what they do for you for your wedding.

I would give her a separate hostess gift & ty note shortly after the shower.

Otherwise I would make their BM/MOH gifts similar in cost/value.  Don't stress about making them exact to the penny or anything, though.

I spent more on my sister's MOH gift.  I did also get her a hostess gift for the parties, but I still spent more on her WP gift.  

She's my sister and my best friend, and I would spend more on her birthday than I would for any of my other friends' birthdays.

The idea of giving separate hostess gifts for each party is a fantastic, thank you ladies!
