Call me back!

Dear world,

I know it's not OLW yet, but would the following people PLEASE call me back:
1) venue coordinator (so I can pay my payment for my wedding? kthx)
2) dress alterationer (because you still need me to come in and get my bustle measured)
3) jeweler (because you didn't order my ring yet, unless you paid for it yourself?)

I'm getting impatient, lol.  It's like people don't want my money or something...

So, tell me a time when you had awesome customer service (or not).  Is this my only bridezilla moment of planning?!

And then to make it fun, tell me why it keeps snowing up north.  I want my venue not covered in snow in April and I mean, who even knows these days?

By "north", I mean most of the US above FL.
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton

Holy OMG @Blue! 2 months from tomorrow?! How did that happen?!?!?!?!

I didn't have much trouble getting in touch with my vendors when I was planning so I can't speak to that.

However, H and I bought a new car on December 30th. The temporary tags we received have since expired and the dealership has yet to send us our actual license plates. We've called them 3x now (both before and after the expiration) and were told that they're having issues with the company they use for titles and are planning to no longer use them but that we'll have our license plate in a couple days. I don't know what else to do at this point. If H gets pulled over, he'll definitely get a ticket for expired tags. It's really annoying, not to mention illegal.

And winter can SUCK IT. We're supposed to be getting a foot of snow on Thursday. I DON'T WANT TO BE HERE ANYMORE.

Blue, so sorry your vendors are being so annoying!

I got an email last night from a baker I contacted Thursday or Wednesday last week asking if anyone had contacted me yet regarding my inquiry. And I was like...well...NOW someone has.

I don't know why it keeps snowing. Winter can seriously suck it! I'm trying to look on the bright side...the high for Atlanta next Thursday is 68. Sure...it's snowing buckets right now and we're expecting a total of something like 6 to 8 inches of snow and ice (historical amounts btw) but at least next week it'll almost be like spring again and maybe winter will be gone for good.

You should've just planned a wedding in Atlanta. ;) Turner Field does weddings...sure they're expensive but you can get married where the Braves play! Plus it's never ever cold here in April.

UO: I'm pumped for snow. Mostly because it means I do not have to commute/wash my hair/pick out a boring outfit from my tired-ass wardrobe.

Hmm awesome or really not awesome customer service stories... I can't think of anything right now.

I'm also pumped for a new round of wedding picture shares. Get married already, ladies.

@Blue wow 2 months!!!! Yay!! Hopefully everyone calls you back soon.  I hate waiting for vendors to call back.  I'm also really impatient too.

I wouldn't mind a work from home day on Thursday so may be I should wish for some snow.  Just a little though...

I can't think of anything really great customer service wise to share.. sorry

@tuarceatha I'd be pumped for snow if I conveniently "forgot" my laptop in my office and couldn't work from home. That'd be totally awesome. The only real benefit is getting to wear a big snuggly hoody, fluffy socks, and slippers all day long.

@swazzle yay my venue coordinator called!  She just doesn't work Mondays, so I'm all like "omg, my payment is due tomorrow!" lol.  I'm paid off.  Also, I want to say that the dealership should be able to issue you another temporary tag?  I think that happened to my dad once (in FL, not Jersey, but ya know).  Does your H actually drive to work?  I figured you just took the light rail and train everywhere :)

also @peaseblossom55 and @swazzle 2 months?!  I better get on this!  I also need to AW my invites.  I'm having trouble getting the picture to my computer (by trouble I mean I haven't tried hard enough.  Let's see if I can email it to myself and then white out our pertinent details...)

@Blue - Yea, H drives to Brooklyn for work. It's too much of a hassle for him to take public transportation to get there. Maybe I'll call and ask about that. Thanks for the idea!

@swazzle I know you specifically requested these :)  and maybe @peaseblossom55 too?

Kinda blurry and apparently all my pertinents take up the whole invite, but you get the idea.  Pocketfolds are Scarlet from C&P and the invite is from WPD (in SMOKE, finally, instead of gold)

@blue I bet the next two months will fly by.  I'm already close to four months out and I can't believe it!!! Let's see what the invitations look like!

    Anniversary

@Blue I love it! We are order pockets and belly bands from cards and pockets too! I love the color red you chose! I haven't placed the order yet though.  We are getting the printing of the invites and inserts from catprint.  We are using light coral for the pockets and antique gold for the belly bands. Our invites and inserts are a creamy shimmery paper.

Yay for invitations in the color you actually ordered! :D

I'm going to call two more bakeries today. I'm a little stunned at how the cake has turned into my first (and hopefully only) bridezilla thing.

As most of you know, one bakery completely non-answered my question about spice cake by suggesting their carrot cake. They didn't get a reply (sorry not sorry) and we're not going to bother checking them out. Another place does do spice cake as a custom flavor and we've scheduled a tasting there; another place does NOT do spice cake but has two delicious-sounding alternatives that we've been drooling over. They are one of the places I need to call today. There's third bakery that does do spice cake; we've set up a tasting there, too.

There's one bakery left that we're interested in, and their non-answers have been worse than the first place. I emailed them asking the same basic question, with the same explanation: We need a spice cake for our wedding; do you make spice cake at all? Their reply? I got an email saying that they would be sending me info on their upcoming wedding shows. A reply to that ("Okay but can you just let me know if you have spice cake?") got no reply. Yesterday, I received the info on the wedding shows. You may be shocked to learn that the information provided did not actually answer my question (or even come close!). So I need to call them again today.

Also: help me convince J that personal training should be a wedding expense. When I start getting in shape, I usually lose weight in my tummy and thighs, and for my dress to fit (and for my dress to fit with room for a long-line bra) I need to lose weight around my chest.

I'm SO annoyed at State Farm.

My car insurance account was set up for auto payment, linked to my debit card - I thought it was through my actual bank account number. So when a payment didn't go through when I got a new card, they sent an email telling me so. Well, I never got the email - gmail must have pushed it to junk mail for whatever reason.

So I get an email yesterday telling me that my account has been terminated - SINCE DECEMBER. I call, the woman isn't there, so she calls me back this morning - and the "last day they could do anything" was Feb. 7 - LAST FRIDAY.

I'm sorry, but if you send an email about a missed payment, and you don't get any response, PERHAPS A PHONE CALL IS IN ORDER?! Sure, send an email, but follow up with a fucking phone call!!

So now they're checking with their underwriter to see if they can restart my policy or if I have to go through the whole application process again. WHAT THE FUCK!?!

Jesus. Farmers did something similar to me last year with our home insurance. Thanks for NOTHING, companies.

@swazzle we just bought some glassware for centerpieces.  We're going to wrap some veneer (padauk and maple, I believe.)  We don't currently have padauk veneer, but we're going to do a mock up with some walnut (walnut is dark brown, padauk is a lot more red) soon.  Hopefully before the weekend?  Then promises of wedding porn!

We also have snazzy escort cards that I have to try to print but I love them: image

Is it weird that I want a photo book signature book AND a signature frame?  I vote yes. lol.  I got the frame as a gift and wanted the book originally so I'm like I dunno.

@BriSox81 ugh that is like my worst nightmare!  I don't do autopay with state farm, but that's a good reason not to.  We still haven't gotten a bill for one of our policies since moving and called last week.  The billing was "suspended" lol - our agent didn't know what that meant and had to call on it.  We should get our bill shortly (again, what is it with people not wanting my money?!)

    @BriSox81 That. Is. Bullshit.

I don't want to go into why I was so terribly stupid, but when I was 23, I legit did not pay my car insurance for months and they terminated my policy. I found out when I got a letter from the RMV asking for my plates back. The reason I say, "I was so terribly stupid" was that I got letters from my insurance company ON THE REGULAR letting me know that I needed to pay them.

The fact that State Farm sent you one email that went to spam (which is more their fault than yours; Gmail spam filters are pretty good) and then never got in touch with you again is unbelievable to me. That is just BAD policy.

Oh, and they weren't able to restart my policy, because I didn't pay. So I just spent an hour getting quotes online. Welcome back to Geico, Subie.

I'm so annoyed. Geico is like, $3 more than my policy with State Farm, so it's fine, but I'm SO PISSED.

WAIT??? Don't you balance your check book against your statements or against your online banking? wouldn't you notice that you had a large chunk of money unaccounted for hanging out in there????

ETA: not said to be bitchy, just genuinely curious.
