Blowing Bubbles at the End?

We are having people blow bubbles outside after the ceremony as the bridal party makes our way to the limousine. My future mother-in-law bought 100 wedding bubble bottles for our 300 person wedding! She says that not everyone takes one so it should be fine. Thoughts on this? Is this going to be enough?

  • My DIL bought bubbles for every guest at their wedding~about 100 people.  She gave the many left-overs to my DD to use at her 110 person wedding.  I used the many left overs for my little students at my nursery school.  =)

    Your mom is right.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • I had found boxes of 24ct bubbles on clearance for $1.  I bought 4 boxes and just used them all.  We had 80 guests and only about 20 of the 96 bottles left over.  I think a couple of little kids took more than one, but really almost every person took bubbles.

I would probably get at least another 100 for a guest list the size of yours if it's in your budget.  I doubt any adults will be upset if they don't get their bubbles.  However, based on my wedding, I would guess that more than 100 guests will happily take the bubbles.

Also, it probably depends on how you go about handing out the bubbles.  If you just have a basket at the back of your ceremony, many people will overlook it.  We had a BM and GM handing out bubbles to those that wanted them as they exited.  I suppose this was a little more in-your-face and harder to turn down.

  • Yeah, we were planning on having our "Ceremony Attendants" be the ones who hand out programs in the beginning and bubbles at the end. I thought 100 bubbles was way too low of a number too - not sure how to ask her to buy twice what she bought though! Thanks for the advice.

Anyone else have leftover bubbles at their wedding?

  • I bought 144 bottle for about 225 guest list.  We are placing the bubbles with the programs and asking the guests to blow them at us during the recessional.  Since this will leave all the reception time I plan to let the kids play with what left.  The ceremony & reception are at the same venuw and its both indoor & outdoor.

  • That will be plenty of bubbles.  I know you have a picture in your head of how everyone will be gathered, smiling, cheering, and blowing bubbles, and the lovely, spontaneous photos you will have of that magical moment.

But in reality, those moments have to be staged by someone handing out bubbles and telling guests what they are "supposed" to do with them, and when.  About half your guests will be elsewhere doing something else during your magical moment exiting the chruch, and the other half will either be participating or watching the event from a distance, because there was too big of a crowd to get close.

  • Hmmm, all of these responses blow my mind considering our results with the bubbles.  I'll have to ask our BM and GM if they made threats while handing out the bubbles....  :)

  • Not all of those invited make it to the ceremony... and I hear that people had lots of left over bubbles... but only enough for 1 out of every 3 people... I'd be a little worried.  (But that's just me)

  • Thanks everyone - I think I'll leave it at 100 bubbles. Catwoman708 makes a good point that not everyone will be gathered, smiling, and blowing bubbles - and JeFlanigan makes a good point that not everyone will make it to the ceremony! All in all, I guess it's not a big deal if we run out of bubbles!
