Ugh- why can't I get well!

I've been fighting a sinus infection all winter long! I was sick in November and got put on Z pack. I then got super sick in December and got put on antibotics again. And I was sick again last week and still have gross yellow crap coming out of my nose, throat and eye. I'm trying to just work through it this time because I'm pretty sure I'm building an army of super bugs that have survived two rounds of antibiotics, but seriously-- how long am I supposed to be sick before the white blood cells win!?

  • That stinks that you've been going through that!

I know how you feel, I get no less than 6 sinus infections a year.  The gunk that you accumulate is so gross =(

    Hopefully you clear up soon!

  • Sinus infections are the suck. I used to get so many a year that I ended up having surgery and now I get maybe one.

Do you have a neti pot? I prefer the squeeze bottle thing from the same company over the pot but both are good.

  • I have sinus infection problems too (like 8+ a year). Mine is because of a very bad accident I had as a kid that basically crushed my nose and damaged my sinuses. I could have a surgery to fix it, but that is $$.

If its a recurring problem for you maybe visit and EENT and see if your sinuses are causing the problem.

Neti pots and plain old saline solution can help. Hope you feel better soon!

I feel your pain! I think I come down with something about once a month (DS brings all of the funky preschool germs home). Hope you feel better soon!

  • Thanks... we're looking to get a humidifier so maybe that will help. I do think I need to try saline or neti pot at this point since it's not getting better on its own.

  • Swazzle  For two years I'd be sick every time I got off antibiotics then had sinus surgery and I get one cold a year.  Got to an ENT doc, it's worth it.
  • Yuck, being sick sucks. Feel better soon!

  • I find that Z packs are usually pretty worthless.

I went thru something similar a few years ago.  Constant sinus then ear infection.  Went on for a few months.  Finally saw my ENT and they gave me Omnicef (a different not commonly prescribed RX) and it cleared it up in just a few days.  It was amazing.

I've recommended it to a few people with long lasting infections and it worked for them too.

*I'm by no means a Dr but I swear by that shit.

  • I bought one of those sinus squeeze things last night. After an awkward few minutes trying to figure it out I got it. And it really did help! We bought a humidifier last night too, although our room is so big and the air so dry here in AZ that even a large unit on full blast all night didn't seem to make a difference. I know, first world problems.
