Food Station Help!

My fiance and I chose to have stations at our wedding reception. The "guys" (my fiance, father & father in law to be) wanted to create a "southwest" station that serves ribs, pulled pork, corn bread, cole slaw etc since our wedding is on the 1st day of summer and basically b/c they are guys! LOL. So I found online a cute idea to have disposable bibs made up that say "I got messy at Shaun & Chrissy's wedding" so people don't literally get completely a mess! I ordered wet wipes, tooth picks and a mint to go into cute silver boxes with these bibs to be placed at each place setting, but I am having a hard time trying to come up with a cute rhyme to put on the tag. One idea I had was: "You like nice, let's keep it that way, here is something to help you, stay that way"....but I feel like there are too many "ways". Anyone have thoughts of other ways to say something cute? Thank you!

Well, this doesn't answer your question, but...

Me, if I got a "cute silver box" full of wet wipes, toothpicks, and a mint along with a bib, with something "cute" on the tag, I just wouldn't see the humor or "cuteness" in it.  These things already rather suggest childishness, and trying to be "cute" about bibs and wipes just infantilizes the recipients more.  I would side-eye that.

I think that trying to be "cute" with this will at best be ignored as childish and at worst will be side-eyed because it lacks dignity.  It will come across as too contrived and just won't have the desired effect.

You don't need a cute rhyme for a bib and wet wipes.
  • If you insist on printing something on it, print your names.

Not everything needs a cutesy poem.
  • I also vote no poem.  You don't even need the boxes, and the bibs don't need to be personalized-- that sounds like it would get expensive fast.

I would provide the bibs, toothpicks, and mints in nice containers at the station.  You can use apothecary jars or pretty baskets.  Then anybody who wants one can pick it up, and it won't clutter the table for people who don't use that station.

  • I think your idea is cute. As for the poem way doesn't really rhyme with way so I would find another word and word it a little different or maybe just have "you look nice, let's keep it that way." idk maybe it's just me but if I got that at a wedding I would think it was cute and funny. =) good luck!
  • I vote no on the cutesy saying.
  • Skip the rubs and just do pulled pork (which folks can eat with a fork).
  • I had lots of different stations at my cocktail hour, including a ribs/pulled pork etc...your guests will love it!  Wet wipes were all that were necessary though, I don't know if guests would want to put on a bib.  I'm not a cutesy poem fan, but I do feel they go better at cutesy food stations (cupcakes, candy buffet) as opposed to a bbq station.
  • I agree to skip the ribs and just serve pulled pork sandwiches.  Even at an informal wedding, which it sounds like yours will be, I wouldn't eat ribs because they are uber messy, there is no way to eat them "politely," and I wouldn't want to risk getting my dress dirty.

I don't ever use lobster or rib bibs, so those wouldn't help me!  They may not be necessary.  The box of wet wipes etc. is a great idea, though!  Just skip the poem; poems on everything at weddings is becoming a big cliche.  If you must have something printed on them, maybe just your initials and your wedding date?

Also, I would have a basket full of extra napkins and wet wipes on each table.  When I go out for wings, ribs, etc. I always need extras!
