Cheap Unique Honeymoon Ideas?!?!?!

My fiance and I are planning a small wedding and a reception because we are moving to California after he is done in the Marines. We are tight on money because of moving, a wedding and buying a house. Any ideas of what we could do for a honeymoon?!? We do love to travel. Thanks!!

When are you getting married and what is your honeymoon budget?  I can't really suggest anything without knowing that information.

You could look into renting a cabin near a lake somewhere.  You'd be able to cook most of your meals and just hike, hang out, etc.  I'm guessing there's some fall stuff going on in Door County, so you could look into that.  If you want to do the city thing, you could do a shorter stay in a place like Minneapolis or Chicago.  Priceline a hotel, check out some museums, browse shops, go to a nice dinner or two.  With that budget, I think you need to go somewhere within driving distance so that you don't eat up your whole budget on airfare.

Last fall we took a four day trip to NYC for about $1,000, which ended up being one of the best vacations we ever took together. Our budget covered airfare, 3 nights of a nice hotel at Times Square, a concert in Brooklyn, a Broadway show, the Empire State Building, and three full meals each day. Chicago is also a fun city to visit for a long weekend, even more affordable since you can drive.

I would suggest booking something last minute on a website like CheapCarribean.com or Travel Zoo. We did this for our anniversary and ended up going to the Dominican Republic. We stayed at an amazing all-inclusive resort for 9 days for around $2,000. (Maybe it was a bit more, but not much) I wish we would have waited to do this for our honeymoon because we could have saved A LOT of money. Check out websites like those for last minute deals. If you are willing to wait to book something until a month or so before you leave, I would go that route. If you wanted to do something even cheaper you could also think about going for maybe only 5-7 days?
