I suck

FI got me a Valentine's day gift. He gave it to me today - a juicer!!!! I have been wanting one for SOOO long, so that I can make my healthy green juices (kale with fruit in a blender is not so great). I didn't know we were doing gifts, so I didn't get him anything. In my defense, I got him a gift last year (nothing major, I think maybe boxers, and I got us chocolate and champagne), and he didn't get me anything. Well, we did go out to dinner which he paid for. But anyways, we always celebrate Vday, but don't always do gifts, no biggie. I feel bad though since I got nothing for him this year! Any ideas for last minute things? We are off tomorrow, but I plan on going kickboxing, so I was thinking of getting something then. Maybe a case for his ipad? Darn, I clearly didn't plan well this year lol.

Re: I suck

  • Awwww!  You don't suck!  I'm sure Fi was just excited to give you a gift, not thinking about getting something.

But a good last-minute gift would be to go on StubHub or Ticketmaster and print out tickets for an upcoming sports event or concert he would like.  Since I know you're in New York and it's complete shit outside-- services like WunWun or Postmates will pick up literally anything from any store and deliver it to you.  So, that means basically anything can be a last-minute gift.  Get it dropped to your office tomorrow, and you'll have it for dinner time.

BTW: Kale and fruit in a blender is basically my favorite green smoothie.  Ice, apple juice, lots of spinach, one kale leaf (no stem), some pineapple and mango chunks, and flax meal.  We have a juicer and barely ever use it because I prefer to just blend shit up in my Ninja.

  • @jcbride2014- Yea, he was excited to give it to me because I've been wanting one forever! He's currently making us his "famous electric lemonade" on it lol. Sports tickets would actually be awesome. Maybe Nets tickets at Barclay's?

I've never heard of WunWun or Postmates, but they sound amazing! I had no idea a service like that existed. Oh boy this is not good for my shopping addiction!

I love kale and spinach smoothies but maybe our blender sucks? Because when I make them, I'm basically chewing on the kale and spinach. That's part of the reason why I wanted a juicer. And also to have more natural juices, in general.

  • My old blender, a pretty typical Oster model, would never get all the leafy bits. So I was chewing on leaves as you say. I splurged on a Ninja this summer and it pulverizes the shit out of those suckers. If you keep running it, the smoothie will get thin just like juice. And the food processor attachment is the bomb. We make our own hummus now because it's so easy.

  • @jcbride2014 - then yea the blender we now have sucks lol. Plus it's so damn loud! My parents used to have the bullet and I remember loving it. I used to make chocolate mousse all the time. Homemade hummus sounds awesome. I've been randomly craving hummus for a few days now lol. Annnd now I want to make my own!
