Can we all toot our own horns for a minute

Yesterday we got over a foot of snow in MA. Since my work is 45 minutes away and I have a work laptop, my boss has no problem with me working from home. He emailed at 2pm that the office was closing for those who did come in (basically work day over). So I did double sessions of T25 workout then went out and shoveled for an hour so when FI got home from work all he had to do was a very small section. Plus the dishes and cooked dinner. Yay me! What have you done recently that made you super wife/ fiance?

Re: Can we all toot our own horns for a minute

  • Willing to move for the 3rd time since June of 2011, not just move, but move to an entirely different state/territory .   Making all the arrangements for said move.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I'm super organized and plan ahead and make lists to make sure I don't freak out when everything comes to a head.   For example - I have a list of everything we need to do still for the wedding and when it needs to be done, plus lists for everything else.

My FSIL on the other hand is neither organized, or stress-free.  I've been asked by FI and FMIL to help her organize her wedding stuff and get a plan in place to help her calm down and feel less stressed about her wedding process.   We are now having regular planning sessions (to keep everything together and on a good pace). Essentially planning our wedding and hers a few months after ours.   I love planning, so it's ok (albeit a little added stress planning two weddings)- but when they asked me to lend a hand to her 'Because I appear to have my sh*t together and am not panicked," I definitely did a happy dance inside.

That's what people keep telling me. I'm pretty sure she'll live forever to annoy me.

I'm gonna go with 'not my circus, not my monkeys.'
  • Currently 49 in FL, and they have the damn A/C on AGAIN in my office building. Wedding stuff makes me want to break things and cry right now, but I'm holding it together.
  • No matter how bad my research has sucked, I've kept going. I don't know if that's insane or commendable.
  • Finally made DH stay home with his sicky cold.  Get better already!!  And I make his Mom laugh.  She just moved out here (she separated from FIL) and BIL/wife haven't really made her feel welcome.  To the point that she feels disrespected and was thinking of moving back across the country.  She's told DH that if it wasn't for us making her feel welcome here, she would have moved back months ago.  She's such a sweetheart that I feel bad about how BIL is making her feel.  Not much we can do about it though.  Anyway, she's spanish, and I speak very little, but I was watching Cake Boss, and he said he was the king of cakes in spanish.  With my french, I quickly converted it to Queen of cakes and called up MIL to tell her.  I think she almost fell off her chair laughing. She seems to like my terrible attempts at spanish, so I'm happy to oblige.

  • Last night Fi and I were down because our cat is sick and he wanted to just order in Chinese.  Instead I cooked a nice chicken dinner with broccoli and potatoes, and I even made pan sauce for the chicken because I know he likes it.  Healthy for the win.

  • I knew FI wasn't feeling great last week so I walked the dog in the morning when he usually does it.
  • I went with H to his spin class this morning. I think he only invited me to kill me and make it look like an accident

  • I shoveled a foot of snow off the deck and shoveled the walkway twice while FI snowblowed the driveway. I also shoveled a poop path in the back yard for the dog. Then I made us a really yummy lunch.
  • I baked FI some Valentine's shaped cookies (x's, o's, hearts) while he's at work today.  Did the usual dishes and laundry and cleaned off our dining room table which is a constant mess.  Also, I made our table numbers yesterday and finished them today: 13 tables, plus our sweetheart table.

  • @hoppersgirl25 your table numbers look amazing!

This made me laugh so hard... We're convinced my grandmother is going to live til she's 100 out of sheer spite. The woman is straight evil has had cancer, been hit by a car, had cancer again, been in a major car accident, had a massive heart attack with no side effects... We swear she stays alive purely to try and meddle in our lives and in general make life difficult (we have NO relationship with my dad's side of the family due to her drama and starting nasty rumors/fights).
  • I made a super amazing dinner despite being tired, sore, bruised, and cranky from moving/packing our office in preparation for a renovation.

  • TBH, I realized that I have been a lazy, crazy, kind of lame SO lately. I know FI really appreciates coming home to a clean house and it's gotten kind of out of control so I gave the kitchen and bathroom a good scrub and lit candles before he got home. Then we got gussied up, went to a prime rib dinner, came home and watched Saved.

  • I saved us a ton of money by switching to Geico!  But, for real, planned the best flipping honeymoon for our time and budget and saved us money on a hotel suite in Vancouver by catching that the rate went down 2 days after we booked.

  • FI's birthday is in two weeks and I have been super sneaky and couldn't be more proud of myself! I am awful at keeping secrets and have been busting at the seams to tell him his gift. There is an AWESOME rock festival coming up that will have his five favorite bands playing. He found it online and said it would be really cool if he could see his favorite bands all at once. Unfortunately, I have to teach a lifeguarding class that weekend and I couldn't get around it or reschedule. (At least that is what he thinks. I changed the dates of my classes and got the tickets and hotel) I told him I ordered his gift and it should be here just in time for his birthday so he thinks he's getting something tangible that I had made. I told him I was looking into concerts a couple months after this festival so he's not too upset about "missing" this one. Only two more weeks to keep quiet! If I can that will be one for the win for me!
