What did/are you and your FI/DH doing?  Did he get you anything special?

So this is our fifth V-Day together. :)  My FI gave me a nice card, a gift card to a clothing store I like, Reese's chocolates, and apparently there is more to come.  I got him a card, an old movie that he loves on Blu-Ray, and some fancy chocolate.  He is making chicken alfredo for dinner tonight and then we are going out to see Winter's Tale.
ETA the 'more to come' was a bouquet of flowers that was delivered :)

Re: Valentine's Day

  • H sent me a huge arrangement of roses and lilies to the office yesterday.

We are having dinner in (steak, baked potatoes and rolls) and our videographer is bringing our wedding video to me today so we will watch it for the first time tonight.  :)

  • We don't get really into Valentine's Day. I got him a nice beard trimmer (he's been saying he needs a new one for months) and I'm sure he got me something but we're staying in.

  • Fi bought me a Taste Trunk that has an assortment of handmade chocolate items and I got him a Do You Know Your Groom/Bride combo quiz book.

Tonight we are having fish sticks and tater tots for dinner. It's my usual Vday request. :)
  • It's our first Valentine's Day together. We're going to stay in, cook dinner (steak and lobsters!) and drink wine. We didn't get each other any gifts.
  • He sent me a bouquet and chocolates at work on Wednesday (early to avoid the snow). This morning, he shoveled out my car and I made him heart-shaped pancakes. I wrote him a love letter and am making fancy dinner tonight.
  • BF and I are celebrating together tomorrow. He asked me to let him plan, so I don't know what we're doing yet.
  • Apparently FI had "big plans" but the tax refund didn't show up so I'm off the hook. I made him a cute sappy little card and sex coupons that I gave him in bed last night in case he wanted to redeem any today lol. Now the plan is we're staying in so I plan to clean our room while he's at work and we're having a picnic in bed with cheesy 80's movies which is our standard date night in.

  • We went out to brunch, because FI is working later.  So later I will just be doing school work and watching movies.

@grumbledore- Excellent gift idea!  I got FI a beard trimmer as well.

  • FI sent me flowers at work yesterday so I would have all day today to enjoy them. He said there's more to come so I'm curious to see what else he has in store. I got him a bottle of this ice wine that he always says he wants and never gets and a tie (he's obsessed with ties). I also left a bottle of champagne in the fridge with a note on the front telling him there's a surprise inside. We're going out to dinner on Sunday so we can avoid the masses tonight.
  • We've never been too big into it, but we're actually celebrating a lot more than we usually do this year since it's our first vday as an engaged couple :)

He got me a teddy bear that resembles him, chocolates, roses, and a diamond candle. I made him a collage of some of our memories, and am taking him to dinner tonight.
  • FI surprised me with a necklace this morning. I feel a little bad because I bought him a book. Our plans are being postponed though. My nephew's bday is tomorrow and my other nephews bday is next Wednesday. They decided they wanted a together gift of an aquarium. So me and SIL were going to take them tomorrow to pick out an aquarium, fish and some fun decorations to put in it. Well since it looks like the weather will be bad tomorrow, when they get out of school we're going to take them to get something to eat and to the pet store. It is all good though. FI and I can do our thing tomorrow.
  • H is working all day and will be at the fire house tonight, he got new weights for the home gym and I made him his favorite cake and a sappy card. Not sure what/if he's got anything planned for me.
  • Congratulations on the new job, @hisgirlfriday13!
  • I'll spend my evening on the sidelines of a lacrosse field, yelling at referees at the Jamboree. FI is getting off work and driving 5 hours down for the weekend...fun fun. Tomorrow morning we're meeting with our caterer and our officiant and then going out for a nice dinner.

My "girls" are all ticked that the jamboree is on Valentines Day, as they want to go out with their bfs but I'm totally fine with it. Neither FI nor I really don't get into VDay, but we like going out to nice dinners so we usually try to do that a day or so after the actual "day." No presents as far as I'm aware, I'm just happy to see him!

  • Despite being together for 5 years this is our first Vday in the same country. H works until 10 tonight and I work tomorrow so nothings going to happen today. I think H is going to make a steaks for dinner tomorrow. But that's as much as we've planned.

  • We got each other cards, candy and stuffed animals. We also went out to breakfast this morning.

  • We don't really do anything big for Valentine's Day but we do make dinner together. This year its lemon butter salmon, wild brown rice, asparagus, and champagne!
  • So DH called to invite me to his place for filet sliders.     However, he has the car and we have about 4 inches of snow on the ground.  Wonder what the chances of getting a taxi on V-day night?

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Congrats @hisgirlfriday13!!!!!!!

We took the day off from work, but I had to do some work earlier from home. We have dinner reservations at a steakhouse at 9. So I'm going to start getting ready in a few, so that we can go grab some cocktails before that. FI got me a juicer, which I have been wanting for ages! We usually just do a date night and don't always do gifts - I didnt get him a gift this year, and totaly didn't get a last minute gift. So I think I'll treat him to the cocktails, I'm going to look on Yelp for a nice place to get drinks before dinner.

  • FI came home with flowers, the movie The Heat on blu ray, and some Reese's Hearts.  I got him a card and some Bucks tickets.  Now he wants to go out to dinner but it's going to be crowded everywhere so I am hoping we stay in :)

  • We're going out for dinner.  I told DH to cancel, since he was home sick today, but he says he feels better, so we're going out.  It was "Touch of Class" today at school, so we're even dressed up!!

  • He got me flowers and we exchanged candies and such. I actually love the cliches. We do stuff for each other all year that is creative, so I actually like to do traditional stuff for gifts on VDay.

I'm cooking dinner and then we are going to a burlesque show. I'm looking forward to watching some great entertainment.
  • we are not big into Valnetine's day, but my H did bring me coffee & breakfast in bed this morning, so that was super sweet. I have been battling a cold this week and even let me "sleep in" a bit and come to work later so that was nice that I was able to have a chill morning and not rush to work.  Tonight will be typical Friday night; cooking, some drinks and a movie while comfy on the couch.

  • we're working in different provinces, so no togetherness for us today!  It's our 4th valentine's as a couple, first as engaged couple, but we've been apart each one :(. But, my sweetie gave me a call this morning as I was on my way back to the staff house from work, which was really nice. I'd left him a valentine's card in his go bag, and he told me last night that he left me a card on our kitchen table for when I get home.  Whee!
  • It's the one day of the year DH lets me pick a romantic movie without putting up a fight. We saw Endless Love and then went to dinner. We didn't exchange gifts this year.

  • We spent the morning shoveling so we could both get to work (where we both did more physical labor, yay?). I got home and spent over 2 hours making an amazing dinner: Galway spinach salad with homemade sweet onion dressing, Guinness-braised short ribs, and mashed potatoes.

So DH apologized profusely for not getting me anything.  Really??  When you'v been sick all week??  I expected nothing.  He did take me out though, to the same restaurant I stood him up at on our first date.  It was pretty awesome, especially since we got seated at the same place where I was on that date.

A little history, we made plans to meet for dinner and to see the Olympic torch go through our city last winter Olympics (Vancouver).  I showed up, he didn't.  I figured I'd still go see the torch and meet up with my Brother/SIL since I knew they were going too.  He saw me through the window at the end and I ran into him outside the restaurant.  Wondering if he had waited to meet me outside for the past 90min, he mentioned that he thought we were meeting at Restaurant A.  As soon as he said that, I remembered that we had changed from Restaurant B to Restaurant A and I had accidentally stood him up.  He had walked by the window to see if I was actually there, thought he saw me and went to the table.  I had then gone to the washroom and missed him, so he waited outside for a couple of minutes in case I came out.  Anyway, I swore up a blue streak of apology and embarrassment, he laughed at me and we went to see the torch anyway, along with a drink after.

Dinner was pretty awesome just cos we finally got to eat where we were kind of supposed to on our first date.  :D

  • FI got me cupcakes that I had been craving since last week. I ate one for lunch :) I made FI one of his favorite meals and jazzed it up at bit with a fancy salad. He got some wine, I got some chocolate-covered strawberries and pistachio ice cream. Then we had some sexy times. Then we split cupcake #2. Now I have a stomachache and am snuggling with kitty while FI plays an online game with his nieces and nephews.
