Valentine's Day

Re: Valentine's Day

  • @WinstonsGirl great story!  So, we are actually having our honeymoon in Seattle and Vancouver, BC.  Do you have any restaurant recommendations, or anything else we shouldn't miss while we are there?

We kept it low key this year since we are still working on paying for the wedding and honeymoon expenses.  We had dinner out and used some free passes for mini golf.  Then, we came home and got one episode of Breaking Bad in before my monkey came home from her dad's place.  Today we are getting together with the grandparents so they can give A some Valentine's treats.

  • My fiancé sent me fruit flowers to work and I made him dinner - shrimp Alfredo and chocolate covered bacon for dessert!

So my sister (I have no idea why I typed SIL in try first post, I'm too lazy today to go back and change it) and I took my nephews to the pet store to pick out an aquarium and some fish. I love my nephews but that was the longest trip to the pet store ever. They were all wound up from being in school all day and that they were getting fish. We kept having to tell them to be a little quieter so that they wouldn't scare the animals. Then it was a big ordeal to explain why they couldn't get any of the fish in those tanks (the salt water) and why they had to stick to the fish in these tanks (fresh water). We were in there over an hour. Lol. Oh well, they have their birthday presents and I got a very happy call this morning telling me that "daddy got the fish set up and they look sooooo cool. You have to come see it".
  • We were going to go out but then decided that we'd rather stay in than deal with the crowds. So my SO ran to the store to get ingredients for dinner. He made me a fantastic dinner. We played some video games together and then watched Band of Brothers. Perfect Valentine's Day for me.

  • @RWS2011 I'm from Portland and think you should go see the seattle space needle. It has a restaurant on top (though I've never eaten there).

  • I got a beautiful arrangement of tulips, which are my favorite flower. We grilled steaks and had chocolate dipped strawberries and champagne by the pool in our backyard. It was a great evening!
  • FI made reservations at a restaurant I've been wanting to go to, but he started feeling sick (with the stomach flu that has been going around) mid meal, so we left. I spent the evening taking care of him.
  • I was sick. So my husband bought me soup, a video game, and a blanket. And he stayed by my side almost all day. And today he's strutting around like he saved the world because he went to the store and bought me tampons. So I'm stroking his ego a little bit to make him feel good (although he bought the wrong kind, even with me having shown him the package and exactly where to find them before, and tried to walk him through it over the phone)
  • @RWS2011 - I don't actually, as I don't live there.  We saw the torch as it passed through our city, not actually in Vancouver.  But do go to Granville Island.  Lots of shops and restaurants, a little touristy area, but fun too.
