Wedding Invitations & Paper

Ink Jet VS. Laser Printers

I am going to be making my own pocket fold invatations but am not sure which printer to use to print the invitations on paper and card stock. If someone has printed there own please let me know what kind of printet you used and if any specifit printer is suggested. Thanks in advance

Re: Ink Jet VS. Laser Printers

  • I'm using a laser jet for all my printing.  If the paper/cardstock is slick, the ink will need time to dry undisturbed from an inkjet printer.

The ink (actually toner) is also less expensive if you are doing a lot of printing.

  • Ink jet gives a better color saturation. I had black and white signs printed at an office store, and the laser printer didn't look very nice on the card stock, so I had them reprinted with the inkjet, and it looks much nicer. You could always try one each way to see what looks better.

  • Whichever printer you choose, the quality of the print can be affected by the DPI (dots per inch). The higher the DPI, the higher the resolution the image being printed is, so the clearer it will be. If you have a lot of very fine detail, you may be better off with a laser print as you don't run the risk of the ink smudging like it can do with an ink jet. We've been doing all our printing with a laser printer, and it has come out really nicely without the lines/streaking that can appear from ink jet printers.

  • i'm using an inkjet, photo printer on the highest quality setting. I changed the ink right before starting and I think they look good.    they are drying quickly with no smearing or streaking - i'm sitting and pulling each one off as it comes out just to be sure it's fully dry before being stacked.
