It's SUNDAY

What are your plans?

DH just went to work.  Should get off early.  Then we are going to return a Vera Bradley bag I bought way too small and maybe get lunch.   This evening we are having a good-bye dinner with our neighbors.

I also plan on doing some more organizing since the packers and movers are coming Wednesday.  It's tough because everything we need to pack for the few weeks we are in temp housing is stuff we are still using.  Can't really do too much ahead of time.

Random funny story.   So I mentioned on another thread my parents came home from a 2 week vacation to find a squatter in the house.   Yep a squirrel moved in.   This morning mom came out to the living room to find said squatter just chilin on the sofa.    All I could think of is

The group text messages between mom and me and my siblings are hilarious.  Mom LOCKING herself in the bedroom, because you know, squirrels are known for opening doors.   Dad trying to catch the thing.    Funny stuff.

Re: It's SUNDAY

  • I hope she puts a border under the door. It's not like squirrels are deterred by spaces.

DD and I are off to church and DH is going to clean the driveway from yesterday's snow. Then there will probably be some daddy/daughter sledding in the backyard.

I made pizzelles yesterday and I think they're begging to be dipped in chocolate.
  • Hahaha your poor parents.  But I sort of wish somebody had videotaped the couch squirrel encounter...

I just finished a Pilates video and I'm straightening up the house a bit.  When Fi wakes up we're making a big breakfast.  Then putting together our grocery order for the week and (maybe) shoveling out the car which has been buried under snow on the street.  I might start watching the first season of House of Cards later.

Jack the sick cat is doing much better!  He's jumping up onto the couch and the bed again.  Finally we are not so worried.

  • I think i'm going to cry.

DH has a mentally challenged staff member. I think she reads at a 3rd grade level.   She was here before DH got there.   He is really patient with her.  I fear she will not be so lucky with the next chef.

Anyway, yesterday she gave DH and thank you note for being her boss and gave him a leash for Chef D.  I could not help by laugh because the leash is rated for up to 11lbs. One pull and it would break, but it's the thought that counts.

Well DH just called and said she bought me a gift also.   He was told he can not open it package. Then she cried and hugged DH (she is off during the week, so this is her last day with him).

What do you think about me putting the leash on Chef D, taking a picture with DH and printing out a picture for her?

  • @lyndausvi, that is so sweet! I would definitely take that picture and send it to her.
  • What a sweet gift! I think a picture would be a lovely geasture.

FI is at work until 1 and then has to run 12 miles when he gets home. So I'm going to clean and cook while he's doing that. Later tonight we're going out for our belated Valentine's day dinner. Tomorrow we're having an adventure day since we both have off and no runs to get in.
  • Lynda, I think that's a great idea.  It'll mean a lot to her.

Im kicking DH out of the house so I can work on my presentation for my class.  It's due next week.  And tomorrow is a holiday!!  Yay!!  He's got a couple of last minute touchups to do at his old place, and I think the listing goes up today.  I can't wait to get rid of that place.

  • I second the leash picture!

Today I Jane to clean and then pick up my roommate from the airport. Then I have to send some emails and study for my test. Busy day and none of it will be fun

  • Okay, I will do the picture.

The leash is so funny.  I'm not even sure the clip is wide enough to attach to his collar.   Whatever, I will make it work for a photo.

  • I slept in, cleaned the snow off my car, and now I'm clipping coupons before heading out to the Asian grocery and the arts & crafts store. I might even manage a load of laundry afterwards. We're taking FFIL out to dinner tonight for his birthday. FI has to go to work tomorrow, so I will probably stay up watching the Olympics and Knotting.

  • FI and I are currently watching TV and updating our gift registry.

He's having one of the guys over later to work on some music stuff, and I'll probably just loaf around while doing/putting away laundry. Tomorrow is a holiday but I have to work, so I need to be somewhat productive today.

  • LOVE the picture idea @Lyndausvi! And so glad to hear Jack in on the mend @JCBride2014!

We are being laaaaazy this morning. Gus & FI are snuggled up on the couch watching some dumb sport show and I'm trying to figure out the meals for the week so we can go get some desperately needed groceries. This afternoon I get to go take pictures of my bestie's 6-week-old twins. They were premature and baby boy has only been home about 2 weeks and just got his oxygen tube out last week. So excited to play photo shoot with the little nuggets :)

I should go to the gym, too, but I'm still.so.sore from that damn barre class. Maybe I'll suck it up tonight and squeeze in something. Ugh.

  • Love the pic idea too! @JCbride2014 - yay! So glad to hear Jack is up and about!

We are being lazy today - at least I am. We went out last night (FI couldn't drink for a month because he was on anti biotics, so he wanted to party last night), and I woke up today with a fuzzy memory, slight headache, and just generally tired. I have plans of watching Madmen all day lol.

  • I can already tell this will be a totally nonproductive day. And I'm planning to love every minute of it.
  • Oh, and can I just add that the squirrel story is hilarious?? I love squirrels, I don't know that I would love to have one hanging out on my couch LOL

  • The commentary is still going strong.  Said squirrel is trapped in the attic.    I can just see my dad trying to figure out how to get this thing before we leaves for China on Tuesday.

  • Everything I hear squirrel stories, I think of Christmas vacation. Hilarious

  • We had a squirrel issue with our new store when we opened in September.  He finally was chased out after we found him hiding in the shelves.  Apparently he then hid in the baskets we put out on the sidewalks and pull in at night.  He partied all night in the store and when we found him the next morning hiding in the floral arrangements (he jumped on our florist) he was trapped between 2 baskets and wheeled out into the parking lot to be set free...again.  Since then, he hasn't made a reappearance *knocks on wood*.   Squirrels are wily.

I got back from work this morning and have just been relaxing on the couch with the dogs.  It's H's birthday and I made the PITA ice cream cake last night for him.  Probably will go out for dinner to a burger place he likes but I think tastes like grease and oil.  Tomorrow I get to yell at our property management company for the debacle on Friday and the newspaper for not delivering our morning paper this morning.  I need my coupons and am more than a little irate.  We also have new neighbors and I'm still trying to figure out what kind of dog they have.  It's huge and brown with a smooshy face.

Do they have a Critter Control or Skunk Whisperer franchise around there, or maybe something similar?  They'll come out and set traps for the squirrel, then release it somewhere else, plus check the home for damage and try to find out where it got in so it can be reparied.
  • One of my coworkers had a squirrel living in her car. It was hiding in her glove box for a while before they realized he was there (the squirrel poop gave it away). They couldn't get him out for over a week, and he chewed up all the wiring. It cost a fortune to get it fixed.

  • The weather is fantastic here. In the 60s with some sun. I am going to go out shortly and inspect my flowerbeds, see what I need to be doing to them this spring, and I'll cut back my rosebushes today too. I need to replenish my Vitamin D bank. I've been recovering from surgery and we've had too much cold weather, so even though I'm not an outdoorsy person and kinda batlike in my love for darkness, I need some fresh air and light.

Mom said they called someone who was not every helpful.    They live in a small resort town, so not a whole lot around.  Still I think someone should be able to help.

  • DH and I got up and went to Mass, which was an adventure -- our parking lot is essentially an ice rink, which made things interesting.

I then had religious ed, which is always fun. today, one of my kids said, 'Miss, you told us God made a covenant with Noah that He would never destroy the Earth with a flood again. What about snow? Could He destroy the Earth with snow?'

I had no answer to that question, but after the winter the north-east has had, I wouldn't rule it out.

I am now at work, where I have to figure out how I'm going to give my boss my two weeks' notice tomorrow (he has a temper, so I anticipate this not going well).

  • We had a lazy morning, the FI and I went shopping for his suit for the wedding  Macy's is having a great sale now, and he ended up buying 2 suits for about the price he thought we would spend on one.  We also found a great tie that will go with his suit for the wedding and cuff links he really liked.  He looked so handsome when he came out in his suit that I could not rid myself of a goofy grin.  At that point, he said he was sold, because he wanted to get anything that made me smile that much.

  • We went out for breakfast, then to see the Lego Movie, then shopping, and then for ice cream. It was a great day b/c I almost never get to just ENJOY Sundays.

  • I'm currently working ton my presentation for my Uni class.  My Prof wants us to use Prezi, so we can learn about a different tech tool (as we all know powerpoint very well).  Prezi is the stupidest thing I've ever used.  I'm pretty tech savvy and can usually figure things out.  I needed the tutorial video to even get started.  And I basically wrote out my whole presentation on paper first and am now transferring it into the Prezi.  What a waste of time

  • @WinstonsGirl I actually like Prezi but it was super annoying to learn how to use.  I hate when profs dictate what program you use in their class.  Everybody learns and presents information different ways.

H is still sick. I went to church solo this morning, then to the store, then to a work meeting and now I'm chilling hoping H will feel well enough to watch Anchorman with me before I have to go back to work.
