Well this explains it...

Why so many lovely Brides to be turn into Bridezilla's, or Snowflakes. Unbelievably crazy expectations from the wedding industry, or just society as a whole when it comes to weddings. I expect none of this from my bridesmaids. Except for #14 - (J/K!!)

The comments below the article were pretty interesting, too.

  • I genuinely "lol'd" at some of those. Particularly the "squee". I've had a couple of friends get married and get so weirdly excitable over corn-holders and toaster ovens. "OMG I CAN TOTES MAKE INDIVIDUAL GRILLED CHEESES WITHOUT HAVING TO HEAT UP THE OVEN!"

This is a level of success that some of us can only dream of!

ETA: We don't have a toaster, because according to FI, it wastes, "prime countertop space".  Really, a toaster would be a waste of space, but you leaving a large wooden cutting board out at ALL TIMES is practical?

FI and I have a very large, very expensive toaster oven and it is the greatest thing ever. I'd forego a microwave but will never part with a toaster oven. FI had never had one until we got the one we have now and when he found out you could reheat pizza in it, he was amazed. He has gotten pizza for dinner with the sole intent of not eating it until the next day so he could reheat it in the toaster oven to make it all crispy and fresh again.

    Life hacks, lol!

I personally hate all showers. Bridal and Baby.

  • I second this, including my own. I loved that people wanted to throw me one but I don't enjoy being the center of attention (and I felt bad for everyone sitting there watching me open presents).

I absolutely despise showers, both bridal and baby. I'm so happy that we're having a small guest list which will hopefully make it quite unlikely that anyone will throw me a shower. I don't like shower games, FI and I don't need unnecessary gifts, and the women that would be invited are family and close friends and I already see them all the time as it is! No need to have a party just to sit around and chat and watch me open presents.
  • Confession: I like bridal showers.  As long as there are fewer than 20 people.

  • I don't mind them, necessarily, but I'm perfectly fine without one. I'm not a very girly-girl, and I feel very awkward dressing up just to sit around and listen other people "oooh" and "aaah" when I open a Tupperware set.

Fortunately for me, since I have been engaged before, I've already done my time with bridal showers. I was perfectly fine with not having another one, even if it had nothing to do with etiquette (since the relationship was eventually broken off prior to the wedding).

  • My friend's shower has a guest list of 65. No thank you. My mom and her 10 or so friends really want to throw me something, which I am perfectly happy with. But I don't want it to be a big to-do.

  • Yes, baby showers are the worst too! The last one I attended took 5 hours. 5!!!! She had a bazillion gifts to open.

The only way you are getting me to stay at a baby shower that is 5 HOURS LONG is if you provide me with all the wine and food.
  • I hate showers and actually told my sisters (my bridesmaids) that I would be tickled pink if they "forgot" to throw me one.

Yeah.. I am going to one of those... I'm in the BP, and love my friend dearly, but FFS!

Fingers crossed that there is champage?
