Flowers

Blooms by the Box

Hello lovely brides (and the occasional groom), so we are on lower end of the budget spectrum and a lot of things are DIY. One of the things we are DIYing are the flowers. I am not super particular about flowers. The only flower related thing I am particular about is that I want to carry sunflowers. Other than that, I am fine with whatever. My fiance's sister is obsessed with and talented in arranging flowers so we are giving her the money and letting her do whatever. So my question then is, has anyone ever used Blooms by the Box (http://www.bloomsbythebox.com/)? How did it go? Recommend? Has anyone used any other DIY type flower company?

Re: Blooms by the Box

  • I was considering using a wholesale florist for my flowers.  The cost of the flowers, with the branches and the vase came to an average of $55 a table... this is for hydrangeas.  I have talked to florists, and they are telling me that their flowers will come to the same price as making it myself.  Unless you live in a really expensive area (LA or NYC), it could be cheaper to go through a florist.  The vases are the most expensive, and if you go through a florist, you are not purchasing the vases, you are only renting them.  Get flower quotes and price out the DIY flowers yourself.  If it costs the same, I can't see spending all of that energy on centerpieces just days before the wedding.
I was going to go through Fifty Flowers, because my Costco did not have as many options.  My friend bought her flowers at costco for a ridiculously cheap price. I have not heard any reviews about Blooms by the Box.  i would check yelp if I were you.
