NWR: Cable

We finally have cable! We have been using Netflix and Hulu for almost 2 years. It's so nice!

Re: NWR: Cable

  • We also just got cable a few weeks ago!  But honestly I've been so weirded out by what's on TV (hello, Steve Harvey) that we mostly just still watch Netflix.  We just started watching Scrubs from the beginning.

I do enjoy putting on The Today Show while I'm getting ready in the morning, though.

  • We still haven't gotten cable or internet yet... hopefully this week, and then I can join the ranks of civilized Americans lol

  • I would die without cable. I am cheap and I'm always trying to cut back on things like cell phone plan and eating out and anything that helps the household budget. I even make my own laundry detergent but despite the cost I refuse to give up my cable lol

  • You do not need cable to get the Today show.  Actually thinking about cancelling my cable.  Its a rip off and I am tired of giving them my money!
  • I am a tv junkie, so it would really be a struggle for me not to have cable. It's sad.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

I was just going to say this! Until about a month ago I lived in an apartment where I didn't have cable or internet (so no netflix or anything obviously), but I did have a rabbit-ears antenna. You can always go that route, and PBS has a lot of cable-like programming.
  • We're the opposite - decided to ditch cable last year and surprisingly haven't missed it as much as we thought. I do mourn the loss of American Pickers & WWHL (I heart Andy Cohen), though not enough to justify the expense or the time suck of cable.

FI and I will be giving up our cable here in about a month :( We're THIS close to getting a closing date and we have decided we are not willing to pay an ungodly amount of money for tv in our new house. Right now our cable is included in our rent so I've become a huge tv junkie. I'm going to miss a lot of my favorite shows but until after this wedding is done and paid for, we can't justify spending any extra money that we don't have to. Maybe in October we'll see how much we miss it and if we can find room in the budget for even just basic cable.
  • We would have a hard time living without cable.

  • I love ESPN too much to live without cable. I'm a better person when I have it.
  • I haven't had a TV (or cable) for 3+ years and I only really miss it during March Madness, when I spend too much time at the bar rooting for UConn (if they make it). DH doesn't really watch TV and didn't have one either when we met. I watch a few programs on my laptop, which is enough for me.
