  • @fiancb I live in a very concentrated Polish community even though I'm not Polish. I always thought it was kind of funny how people make a big deal out of pierogis because to me it's just a ravioli! Sure some are made with cabbage or potato instead of cheese but it's still just a ravioli hahah yummy nonetheless!

Oh my god. How did you all live so long without avocados? hahaha they are a staple in my fridge.

I didn't know what gelato was until college. Same with paninis.

I didn't know about walleye until moving to MN and it's my favorite fish now. I also didn't know what pierogies were until I met FI and his Polish family and I have to say that they're pretty bitching.
Wait... are you supposed to keep avocados in the fridge?! I've been keeping them on my counter. Crap.
They ripen faster at room temperature so keeping them on the counter is perfectly fine if you aren't trying to slow the process.

Duck and venison. I was against both when I was younger but once I tried them they are amazing. I might end up giving rabbit another shot now too. I hated rabbit as a kid.
Pheasant is amazing too.  (My family is full of hunters which means fresh meat! = yum!).  Rabbit is good, but I also really love lamb.  I'm clearly a meat eater. Everything but pig (which I just can't stand for some reason)
    I love allllllll the meat.

FI gets grossed out by me because if my steak isn't bleeding, I don't like it haha
    Go rare or go home.
10000000% agree! I love a cool, red, bleeding center...just wave it above the grill! I also love duck, lamb, and venison. We have a farm that we hunt on and nothing will ever beat fresh venison. We have an awesome recipe for fried venison bites, we've always called it "Bambi nuggets" which just shows how wonderfully twisted my family is.

    **SILLY BOX!**

I prefer the center to be slightly warm, so I lean more towards medium-rare... but definitely closer to rare than medium.

I love when the steak comes with mashed potatoes and the meat bleeds into the potatoes... MMmmmmmmmm!

  • I recently got my husband to try asparagus.  His mom hid his vegetables in food so he's never really liked anything other than potatoes and green beans (in casserole form, of course).  I convinced him that asparagus really does taste like green beans (which it does when steam cooked in butter) and he likes them decently well now.

Feel free to grant me your venison recipes.  I have frozen venison in my fridge and no idea how to cook it.  (H recently got into hunting with his friend but neither of our families hunt so I have meat I would love to be able to use.)

I've found that at most restaurants, if I order steak rare, I get medium rare, which I'm entirely fine with. However, I'm ALWAYS excited when I order rare and get rare. I also love steak tartare, which I had for the first time by accident when I was visiting graduate schools. Basically, I had no idea what it was and decided to be cool and order it anyway because someone recommended it. Best. Decision. Ever.

I love lamb with mint jelly yum. Also realized I forgot to put gator tail. It is chewy like calamari but gator nuggets are yummy. Would never have tried them if I didn't move to FL.
