Father Daughter dance

What are y'all dancing to with your dads? I would really like to use a Beatles song but I'm having a hard time finding the right one. I also like Paul Simon's Fathers and Daughters but I think the tempo is a tad too fast.

Not 100% yet, but I remember when I first heard 'Dance with my father' by Luther Vandross... I thought that it would be the song for my Dad dance at my wedding!
  • My Dad and I have had our song since I was a little one...Billy Joel's "Goodnight my Angel"

If you are looking for a Beatles song that may work, can I suggest either ""I Will" or "In My Life" I have a few more suggestions if you are interested...

  • We're probably doing either "Theme from a Summer Place" or a piece from the Gettysburg movie soundtrack. For Beatles, "When I'm 64" could be really charming. I know it's more a couple thing, but it could apply to fathers and daughters as well.  Or run through the list on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_recorded_by_the_Beatles
  • I like "I Will" but it doesn't blow me away.  I really really like "Something" but I don't think it will be appropriate to dance to with my dad.  What else do you have @seniorprincesslnhs??

@cirena166 "When I'm 64" is what we are using for the recessional! I also had a handkerchief embroidered for the FI with the lyrics on it.

  • "Tough Little Boys" by Gary Allan! Fits my dad perfectly... and it's just a raw, emotional song. Tim McGraw's "My Little Girl" was in the running but I feel like everyone has been to a wedding where they did that song so I'm branching out! lol I also considered "Dance Baby Dance" by Chris Cagle. (Can you tell I love country music?!)

Ok @shoebunnie, let me tap my Beatles obsessed brain... ...Let's see....you could do "Blackbird", "Good Night" or "Across the Universe" if you want to keep it slow dance like, or you can go a different route and go with  "I'm Happy Just to Dance With You" or "Two of Us" for more up tempo....

I like" Something" a lot too, but can be seen as romantic, but most Beatles songs are, but could work... in the same vain is "Here, There, Everywhere" or "And I Love Her"

    What direction are you thinking?

  • Blackbird and Something are two of my favorites.  Unfortunately the subject matter of blackbird is not really very weddingy.  I am considering something but like you said it is a little more romantic.  I need to listen to "Here, There, Everywhere" and "Good night"

Yes this is my song too! I told my dad that when I was a child.
  • Have you found anything yet, @shoebunnie?
